My husband and I started discussing some issues involving our family. One of them being the amount of tv we watch. I got to the point where I got sick of it the only thing that connected us together was a stupid box. When you think about it that's all a tv is a box or in some cases a recentagle but still my point is i t's a time waster. There's so much more too life than starring at a screen. So we canceled cable the only portion of cable we have now is for internet because of the kid's schooling and our business. We got rid of tv and gave the money from it to charity. After discussing what we did with a few of friends and teachers from school we've also come to find out that too much tv could be a result in a couple of my children's speech problems. Also while none of my child show any signs of this thank goodness too much tv can also cause developmental delays. We all came to an mutal agreement right now we are trying a trail membership through netflix we as a family will watch a movie once a week usually on a friday or saturday night and then that's it. Now what we do will all this time on our hands we volunteer a couple of times a week for local charities and soup kitchens. Plus we make more trips to the library, we take different classes there and get involved in different clubs. When we are home we spend real time together talking to each other and spend time doing different hobbies. As I look around and hear different people and even kids it sadens me to think that this generation depends on these kinds of things what has happended to priorities?

Hmmm, my opinion is pretty different. I think that tv shows fool me. I don't like to watch tv shows any more before I grew up and I have my own opinion about more things that are treated tottaly different than they really are. For future children, the tv shows will be a counterexample. You don't do like they.

You are so right! My son is 36 years old and it took everything I could do to get him away from the tv set either watching a program or playing a video game. He now has a 9 month old son and the kid is already a tv addict. I turn the tv off when he visits me! It's up to the parents as to how much kids spend in front of the tv. They need to be out in the fresh air and playing with friends.
