Almost didn't get my bikes

So, after our Thanksgiving feast with my in-laws, we came home and I left Tom and Paul at home and Kathryn and I went out for our shopping expedition. The main thing that I was going after was a new bike for Kathryn and one for Paul. When I got there there was only one other person standing at the pallet of the size bikes that I needed, and I went on the other side of the pallet with my hand on one girl's bike and one boy's bike.
When we ripped open the plastic, I grabbed the girls bike off first and then tried to grab a boy's bike. Every time I started to try to pull one off of the pallet, someone from the other side would start pulling in the opposite direction. I did end up getting both of the bikes that I needed, but I ended up with the next to last boy's bike that they had. I never really realized that bikes were such a popular Christmas gift.
So, if you did any shopping on Thanksgiving Day or with the very early morning sales on Black Friday, were you able to get all of the things that you were looking for, or did you miss out on some of the deals that you were after? What do you think about this mad rush for bikes and have you ever given a bike as a Christmas gift?

We didn't go out shopping on Black Friday. We are broke right now all of the time so we have no money to spend. So all I did yesterday was buy one thing off line with my amazon money for JD we already had something for Sugar this year put up for her. I can really get much for anyone else either.

That really stinks that you aren't in a position that you are able to do a lot of shopping for Christmas. However, your children are younger so they aren't really going to remember what you did for them for Christmas this year.
Our family is honestly strapped this year as well, but I've tried to save the money I've been making on here and from other sites as well so that I could buy some things for the kids and my immediate family as well.

Well, I understand that as well.
However, I'm just saying that you shouldn't let yourself be down about the fact that you aren't able to do a lot for your children for Christmas this year.

I know they won't remember but I'll always remember that they didn't get much or that we didn't get them anything. But I was able early in October to get our daughter the movie that we know she will just love. She is a huge Tinkerbell fan and then for the baby I got him a teething blanket throw Amazon with the money that I got from swagbucks that I got with there gift card. I had saved up $22 and some change so I was able to get him one thing. My parents and family are buying them other things for Christmas. I just wanted to make sure each got something from us.

There is no way I would go shopping on those days, I don't really like shopping that much anyways and to go on a day were there's hundreds of people out there...that's just crazy to me

Honestly, it's never been something that bothered me. I think that a big reason for that is because of the fact that I've always been shopping on Black Friday, whether with just my mother or with both my mother and my grandmother when I was a little girl. Not only did I do it this year, I also introduced my daughter (who will be 10 in just over a week) to Black Friday shopping. She had a blast.

I didn't do any shopping. I had Thanksgiving here then babysat today for my granddaughter whose daycare wasn't open today. She stayed over and it was fun. I don't feel like I missed anything. I did go shopping earlier in the week and found some good bargains!

The sad thing is that I had also hoped that we would be able to go to the store today and get some more stuff that I need to finish my Christmas shopping. However, that didn't work out and I was at home all day without a car (I let my best friend borrow the car to go to her grandmother's Thanksgiving affair). So, we are going to be going out tomorrow or Sunday to do a little bit more shopping.

Wow, you braved going out to shop! And geez, were people really that grabby for the bikes? That is so crazy - but I'm glad you were able to get those bikes . . . they must have been on a great deal. I suppose sometimes you literally have to be an aggressive shopper in order to get what you want!
Nope, no shopping for me! We always laugh about that during Tday dinner - that's one of the topics covered each year. As much as I love a good sale, there is no way I'm going to mess with the crowds and long lines. I wanted my precious sleep at night - hee hee - because it was a busy, cooking and social day - and I was plenty stuffed with food. I want to spend Friday with the family since hubby is home too - so no shopping for me!
Yes, I was given a bike for Christmas as a kid. I remember the picture of it that my parents must still have . . . it was a red bike (my first) sitting right next to the Christmas tree. It was a great little bike. Unfortunately in the next year it would be stolen, sigh.

What I have to admit that I really liked this year, though there were many people that were upset about it, is the fact that the sales started a lot earlier. So, not only was I able to enjoy the Thanksgiving meal with my husband, children, and in-laws, I was also able to go shopping and still be home at a fairly decent hour. I was done with my shopping and home for the night by 10 o'clock.

Dear Dorann congrats on getting the bikes for Paul and Kathryn. You were very brave to go there and rush into the competition of who would get the bikes, and you succeeded. woohoo for Dorann....

LOL. When there is something that I want, I am definitely willing to do what it takes to get that item. Now I would never literally fight someone, however, I will admit that I will get somewhat aggressive about pulling the item from the grips of another person.

Wow! I would not be going out shopping like that. I hate crowds and rude people so I would just walk right out of the store. Here the Black Friday concept was brought in, but there wasnt anything worth wild to be honest. I would assume it woul be popular we use to get them for Christmas and Birthdays as kids, also one year we got this Jeep toy, motorized toy we sat in and drove around.

When my children were younger, they did both have Power Wheels vehicles like the one that you are talking about, however, it wasn't something that I gave them for Christmas. I tend to think that those are way too expensive, so I got the ones that Kathryn and Paul had from yard sales when they were younger. I had a grand total of $40 invested in two of them (it wouldn't have been that much, but I had to replace the battery in one of them).
