What do they signify?

While clicking on some ads in PTC sites, I have observed that the ad opens but there are the display of two messages on two sides just above of the opening page of the ad. The message on left side of the opening page of the ad is as follows-‘Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page’ while that on right side of the page is ‘Install missing plugins’. Let me know what they signify and how I can install them and also if there is any additional benefit on installing them.

I never install stuff from unknown sites since they might have a virus. However this could be a message about programs like DivX that are required to play videos. I have seen that warning and I haven't installed anything, I am not sure about the benefits that you are asking!

I am not asking about the benefits, rather,I am asking if there is any benefit if I install them. But it seems that it might not have any additional benefit, on the contrary, it may be disastrous for me.
