Hello Friends :)
Just moved from IOS to Android phone. I had done many weird stuffs with my old iPhone like downloading weird stuffs, upgrading version and downgrading them too. But never got any problem.
Now I was trying to do same stuffs on my Android phone. I was trying to add new custom version of android, and got problem in my phone. It wasn't getting on and after a week around I able to start it.
I will never gonna try it again. I had read in some site that by doing such things without knowledge can completely brick your android phone. But for now I am safe. Lol.
So have you tried such not normal things with your Smart Phone? Better don't try it without full knowledge as smart phones are surely not that cheap...

My son had his sim card blocked twice due to these applications. (duh)
The last time he did some upgrade his phone turns off and restart by itself...

Hi b'rather
So you mean to say that the smart phones arent that smart to know what is being done to them and hence they cannot repair them on their own?
I never have used an android and the only good phone I had was from my office. Today I use a very cheap handset from LG which is 3 years old and allows only calling, texting and listening to FM. I think I am safe

Exactly..
That's why I added that hope sooo line. I have also broken those kind of promises many times in the past. But Android is still new for me, and trying to learning its programming language too but all by my self. So till than I have to keep my hand in control.

lol.
I can only do one thing. We both can exchange our broken mobile with each other.. Or let me keep both of them so I can increase my unhealthy experiments.
Well, actually I was trying to make it better, but don't know what happened it became worse... I was trying to fix it since a week and today done it finallyyyy.

Hello Anand,
I don't use hi-fi phones I have a cheaper mobile of Nokia which is good enough for calling and texting. I don't like surfing net with mobile I tried it long time back but I don't like it.
For me its obvious more and more your mobile has advance applications its more likely that it would create more problems.

Hi SJ
You are correct on it, more technology can give you more trouble too..
About cheaper mobile, these days even cheap mobiles having all kind of good features with android operating system. So you can go for any one. And yes, operating internet with touch screen is more comfortable too.
I hope I will not do any unknown and non needed experiments on my mobile for now.

Hi..
Playing game will surely not create any problem. In fact mostly all people are doing this (including me) on their smart phone. It is surely good way to time pass..
But yes, downloading unknown software and doing operation in system files is surely risky.. And also upgrading to some custom android rom, it is surely not an easy task. We must know about all chipset of our handset otherwise it can get brick.

smart phones like android has the capability to change its firmware. i know a lot of geeks do it tweaking their phone some may be good other end up breaking their phone. well i think phones today is like a computer but have to think that its a thing that we had to be careful since some of it are so expensive.

Hey this is good to know.
My wife has a Samsung Smartphone, and I don't like them, as you already know from my previous answer to your topic. Anyway, I do temper with computers, in terms of programs and installing different stuff, but I know how to fix them back, so I don't intend on trying anything weird on android phones in the near future. At least with laptops for instance it's simple, just reinstall it and that's that.

I don't do anything to my phone, that i don't know hww to do, or that might ruin it. I have an android phone, and some people root their phones. I know nothing about that, nor what it even is, so I am safe there. I did upgrade to Jellybean but it was done through software update on my phone, and no problems whatsoever. Some people can do lots of things with their phones, and ot ruin them, but when it comes to me, I would ruin it if I did something that i wasn't sure about. Take care, and have a very good day.

Hi Rosekiss
It seems you having good knowledge about it, great. Well, if it is official update for new version like you said, it is nothing risky.. But yes many people try rooting their phone and then go for custom rom with new version. So it can create few problems. In my case, after rooting phone I tried to do some my own experiments with some system file, and due to that it got soft bricked.. But thank God that I able to solve that problem in a week. Now its doing well like before.

I have to say this, if you were using iOS then you had an iPhone. So why in the world would anyone go from using the best smartphone in the world to an inferior one like the android? What a stupid move. My brother has an Android phone and is always having problems with it. He is looking to move up an iPhone. And I am sure he will soon.

Inertia.. After using both OS even I can say the same that ios is much better than Android. But still you can't say something like that(stupid move), I mean Android is not that worse. It is like I have done few system changes and that's why my phone got soft bricked. It was my fault, and in the end I solved it too. And now it is moving smoothly.
But yes iphone is iphone, and I have gone for cheap android phone so that in future I can move to iphone again.

I did not mean (stupid move) as anything against you. I was just saying as a figure of speech. I understand. I know iPhones are not cheap. So since you were used to the iPhone and could not get another one right away, you got something similar until you are able to move up again.

Hello there akp100!
That is one of the things that I rant about smart phones. I mean, smart phones are expensive and yet we do things like rooting it or jail breaking it for better performance or what?
There are really many android features that isn't useful. I have one application that I didn't know consumes internet connection. The file summary didn't tell about it. It is just lately that I found out that makes me ran out of load all times.
I agree with you. Don't try it without full knowledge because you don't know what will happen to your expensive mobile/smart phone.

Ha ha... I guess I have done similar kind of stuff.. First I have rooted my android device and then try to do some changes in system file. And that soft bricked my new smart phone. But thank God, somehow I able to repair it within a week... Yes better not to do such things without knowledge.
Actually Android is open source OS, and we can open many features so that we can make changes in it after rotting it. But yes it can be risky.

I was planning to upgrade the Android version to latest one but when I came to see the issue with you I am not going to do it because I don't want to see my mobile phone as a brick.
So, what was the issues while you had tried to upgrade the Android software ? Is it alright ? How did you solve it ?

Wonderboy.. I wasn't trying to change version of it as it is already latest one. But what I did was change few system file after rooting my phone, which make my phone soft bricked. But somehow I able to recover it back..
About upgrading version, if official upgrading available for your phone then there is no problem in it, you can do it anytime without problem. I would advice you to do it without any worry..
About upgrading it unofficially with custom rom (which is not given by phone company itself) , you have to root your phone first. And that is little harder thing. But still it is not that hard, as I have already rooted my and my cousin phone.. And also have installed custom roms on my cousin phone.. But let me tell you official version of Android is much more stable in compare of these custom roms.
So go for the upgrade if it is officially available otherwise wait for same.

Hey akp100,
I don't find any difference when I upgrade the android version. I find upgrading as a calculated risk. Anyway it my phones keep on running like the same. Anyway I am not loving to take a calculated risk.
Happy Mylotting
Merry Christmas

Hello Echo..
Yes that's true. That's why better don't download any unknown apps and other things on android phone. And yes specially be careful on installing unknown upgrades. If it is official than it will not give problem but if we go for unofficial android version for our phone, than it can produce problems.
