I have learned snowboarding with the help of my beloved. She had to encourage me,a s I have had an injury before.
What made a great deal of difference, was the easy and safe approach to learning how to ride a snowboard with a total speed-control. I.e. I had to learn breaking, and then I applied it all the time.
Of course, I started out very slowly, with a lot of falling (who doesn't!), but, as I gained more control with breaking, I stopped falling, and riding a snowboard became fun. Slow and careful, but still a lot of fun.
I managed to keep it up on the bunny-hills, beginner's hills in the first season. During the second season, I have progressed to the intermediate hills. Heck, I even was willing to try out the advanced double-black diamond hills, but my girlfriend was the one who stopped me from making that silly mistake - after an injury like I had, it would be next to suicide to try out the most advanced hills.
So, there I am, enjoying my life with snowboarding. Highly recommend that activity. start out slowly, though - be safe, I can't stress it enough.
