My hot water bottle

Greece

My longhaired cat, Lucy, follows me everywhere. Today is rather cold and she started off sitting on my lap and warming my legs. But as I am sitting typing here my lap was reduced a little and she is a big cat, so she has crept round behind me now and it is rather pleasant. She must be quite squashed between me and the back of the chair but my back is now pleasantly warmed, not only that she is purring gently so I am getting a little massage as well. How I love cats!

Your long haired cat Lucy sounds really cute, sweet and lovely. I like it that she is curled up warm and safe. It is wonderful that she is purring. I love cats too. I have got two dogs so I can't get my own cat or cats. I adore cats and dogs.

A boy of around 12 visited me a while ago and stroked Lucy who instantly purred. He was quite alarmed, he had never heard a cat purr in his life! In this country people treat cats as vermin catchers and they don't become so tame. How sad that a boy of 12 had never heard a cat purr....

Yes, pets can be like having a hot water bottle! In my case it was my pet dog and my sisters and brothers disputed having him on cold evenings!

LOL, that's so cute my friend. I just knew that purring had to be useful for something. Now I know what it is!

That is so cute! My one cat loves to jump right on my laptop then lie down on it. I end up prying her off, or get doing something else.

For some reason our cat won't sit on my lap, she will sit on my father's lap all day, then, as soon as mum walks in, she only has to sit down and the cat will get off my father's lap and straight onto my mum's lap! Just stroking a cat has been proven to lower stress levels! I miss my beloved Zeus, he followed me everywhere and would actually sit on my lap! He knew exactly when I wasn't well because he would come into my bedroom and sit on my bed, now normally I don't like cats on my bed, but for him I made the exception. Cats are well in tuned with us mere humans and know exactly when we need them the most.

My cat does that oftentimes and although I like it, some of the times I get uncomfortable because I tend to give he cat more space and that means less for me. I could hardly move as I wouldn't want to disturb my cat. So when I start feeling uncomfortable, I move our to to another place where I believe he/she will be comfortable. I love cats, too.

I think my dog Gus is half cat, from your description of Lucy. I used to have a desk chair that had arms and a high back and Gus would jump up and wedge himself between the back of the chair and my back. We were both warm and cozy! Cookie, my other dog, isn't a snuggler like Gus in the daytime but at night she'll burrow under the covers and we sleep back to back. She's like a little heater so I'm never cold on a winter's night! Gus will usually come in later on and sleep with his back to my stomach so I'm warmed on all sides!

Its chilly in here and my long hair warms my back. My daughter's one cat, Colbert, comes around when I am sick and meows and warms my toes alittle. I have heard of dogs who seem to know when people are sick but not cats. That's the only time this cat is friendly with me. I love cats too. Have had some real characters too.

That is so cute. I've met some cats who would not be so willing to share a chair like that. I once had one kick my rear end in an attempt to dislodge me from "her" chair! Mind you, the chair was a decent size, and I am rather thin. Then, when I insisted upon staying put, she got up and left in a huff. Cattitude!

Cat is a loving creature. But not so useful. It only likes fondness. But dog is both loving and useful. It is also most faithful animal. Cat is rather selfish.

Cats are so adorable, I agree. Early this morning Flojo decided to sleep on my pillow and I woke to find her back rested against the side of my head. She was so warm and I could hear her heartbeat as well..so cute!
