Some times i am getting an error message like Pages unresponsive....Why so?

when ever i was busy with my work on PC, in between it is showing a unwanted message to me. It was like 'Pages unresponsive' and continues like'The following pages have become unresponsive.You can wait for them to become responsive or kill them'. Below this warning it is showing me another two buttons having one with 'kill pages' and another with 'Wait'.... What should i do when ever i got such type of problem?
