Are you presentable?

Do you answer the door when you are not presentable? One of my friends (in a car group of friends) stopped over this morning around 10am. I wasn't able to get to the door in time though. I hadn't been expecting company and no one called ahead. In the mornings I'm usually in my pj's which are not at all presentable. So if someone knocks at the door it's literally going to take me five to ten minutes to get to the door and be presentable. Not to mention that my daughter is terrified when someone knocks on the door so she clings to me while I'm trying to find clothes. So I will have to talk with my friend later about it.

I do try to be presentable when people suddenly knocks. Well, I may also be not in my best, of course, coz some would just show up without any notice. It usually takes me a just about a few minutes too to change my shirt and fix my hair before answering the door. Let them wait, I think to myself!

It is annoying sometimes, when after all the rush, it would be just a messenger from one of the banks or cable companies asking if a certain person lives by the name of so and so, which happens to be obviously not! Our gate is at least a hundred steps away from our front door. So it really takes some time before I would even know who is knocking. What could be the worse part is that I am inside the bedroom on the second floor and I have to run downstairs!

Yeah for me it just takes time for me to get to the door. I usually have a hard time finding a matching top and pants. But I try to get there as quick as I can. Later my friend stopped by and I was presentable then and I felt much better.

If it's one of your friends, what is wrong with answering the door while still in your pajamas? I know that I certainly would. If it is a matter of someone who isn't part of my circle, I would throw on a robe or sweater over the pajamas and go answer the door. I've done that on more than one occasion when I needed to accept a delivery.

A few of my friends I would be ok answering the door in front of. Most of my friends however all always dressed their finiest when they do almost anything. From their outfit, to their makeup, to jewelry and purses that match their outfit. So I don't feel the most comfortable if I were to answer the door in my comfy pj's. But I have taken deliveries in my pj's.

i generally get dressed first thing in the morning when hubby and our daughter heads to school so although i might not be wearing the neatest clothing, (i usually wear old stuff around the house) i usually do at least have clothes on by around 8:30 in the morning or at least before 9 am anyways.

Yeah my daughter gets up around seven thirty. I'm dressed in comfortable clothing throughout the morning. Just not clothing I would like to go to the door in. So it takes me a few minutes to at least find a matching top and pants.

we have lots of trees and plants so there are lots of insects at home. because of that I wear jogging pants or pj's all the time. I work at home so it's not really important for me to be presentable but sometimes visitors come and it also takes me a while to face them

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one. I stay at home a lot as well and so it just feels best to be comfortable. So when someone stops over unexpected I have to find matching clothes to wear before I get to the door. PJ's really are great!

I don't answer the door in a towel or anything but if I have my pajama's on and someone knocks on it I will answer it. I wear a long sleeved shirt and comfy pants, I don't see anything wrong with that personally. But that's just me of course.

Yeah I don't see anything wrong with being in comfortable clothing either. It's just when my friends come over they are always dolled up and have matching clothes, to their purses, accessories, etc. I rarely...now that I think about it most of them I have not seen them lounge around in comfy clothes. So I try to at least find a top and pair of pants that go together when I'm trying to get to the door.

As much as possible i try to look presentable every morning because upon waking up I took shower before going out to our bedroom because my husband working during the night and i want him to see me fresh and beautiful everyday I open the door for him. But of course sometimes we can not avoid to look not presentable especially when were busy cleaning the house or cooking and somebody stopped over without prior notice but in this case it's acceptable and no reason to get terrified.

I'm glad to hear that you are presentable when your husband gets home. My husband works during the day. Usually in the mornings I spend time working online, getting breakfast for my daughter, giving her a bath and reading some stories with her. So I'm just in comfortable clothing. In the afternoon while she has a snack then I shower and get dressed and start getting things around for when my husband will be home.
