I think this is Odd...

I have just received an email from Paypal stating that my credit card is about to expire and I need to update it to avoid service interruption. Does anyone here received the same email from them? They even supplied me my credit/debit card last digit number and they are correct. Had anyone experienced the same thing and if ever, could you suggest the best I could so?

No I did not receive this kind of mail from Paypal. Try to check if your credit card has really expired from the date it was being released.

Yes, it's true, it would expire this month. The fault is on me because I have not inspected it. Anyway, I have been to the bank that issued my card and asked for a renewal. The card's expiry date is Jan. 31, 2013. The lady in charge told me that there is a charge for renewal before it's actual expiry date and the waiting time is 2 weeks. But if I renew it on the first week of Feb there will be no charge but it's the same the waiting time is 2 weeks too. Since it's still valid for this month, I have decided to renew it next month charge free.

Your right sishy, every move they made have a price. It's all business for them not thinking that without us they would not exist. They used our money to earn for them and charged us to earn more.

Banks are really good in charging for anything. I think they should issue the renewal free-of-charge before the expiry date so you would not have to have any day without having your card. It should be automatically done without you having to request for renewal.

Have you checked your debit/credit expiration date? If yes- maybe Paypal is just trying to give you early warning to avoid interruption. Like how we receive email from them (Paypal) each time we made transaction- they are for confirmation. Paypal is a very secure payment processor as far I know and so far within 5 years I haven't received any fake email from hackers using Paypal's email address.

Yes, I have checked it and my card would really expire this month. Anyway, I have been to the bank and the lady in charge for renewal told me that there's a fee for renewal if the card is still valid. My card expiry date is Jan. 31. I told her, I want to renew it even with fee because I don't want to have an issue with Paypal, but she told me that it would take 2 weeks before I can have a new one. She also told me that if I change it for a new one next month it's free of charge but the waiting time is the same. So I have decided to have it renew next month, I just hope there would be no problem with Paypal if I submit my new card number on a later date. Thanks for your time my friend.

No, I have not received such email. But any legitimate emails from Paypal would address you by your full name. Is it also true that the credit card is about to expire?

Yes, at first I thought it's a phishing email but the mail addresses me by my full name. So it's real as what Paypal have been warning us, if the mail address us by our full name, it's from them. Before I started this topic, I have not inspected the expiry of my card and upon inspection it's true.So I need to change it for a new one.

Adressing you by your full name is a good indication that the email is genuine. Still, as owlwings suggested below, go directly to the Paypal website to update it and do not use the link provided in the email just to be in the safe side.

Yeah, the fault is on me. I should have looked and checked the card's expiry date first to see if it's true. thanks for your time my friend.
