You might want to eat more apples after reading this article and if you are worried about catching the flue which is said to be on the rise this season. It states about half way down the page or more that apples protect against influenza. Which I have never heard of before and might be true. I am eating as many apples as possible these days anyways again in trying to loose some weight and hopefully it is working. I am kind of obsessed with avoiding the flu this season now as well. I just don't want other to get it either rather than getting the flu shot here is another helpful way that won't hurt at all. http://healthimpactnews.com/2013/why-the-apple-is-one-of-the-worlds-most-healing-superfoods/

They used to say, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away", unfortunately too many apples will send you to the dentist more regularly. Only way to avoid the flu is to get a flu jab and keep away from joe public. No amount of apples or anything else is going to protect you from the coughs and sneezes which spread diseases.

"Why would it send you to the dentist more frequently?" Because apples contain a lot of sugar in the form of fructose, so you should not eat too many. They also contain a lot of acid, which along with the sugar will rot your teeth. I do believe in eating a balanced diet, including the recommended '5-a-day', but not to excess. Eating 10 apples a day instead of 1 will not save you from the dreaded flu. If you want to eat healthier, I suggest more vegetables and less fruit. #TopTip

Why would it send you to the dentist more frequently? I'm curious to know. I'm sorry you don't believe in naturally healing (or food) from helping someone get sick but it does work. Same way as taking Vit C, D, zinc, etc.

Yes, apples are rich in Vitamin C, Postassium, and anti-oxidants. They are good for keeping cholesterol low, help with asthma, helps with digestion, and healthy heart. They said on the news that seniors are at high risk of catching the flu and that young children could be passing the germ around to others so we need to be sure that both of these are getting their shots. Good luck in warding off the flu this season.

Yes the kids and seniors are both at high risk of getting it and the kids pass it on at their schools, friends, etc the most. I have heard that kids were first to loose their lives too, very sad. I don't care for getting the shot actually, but my parents get it.

Yes, it is. Twenty children have been taken so far last I heard. They were asking everyone to get the shot this season.

I have never heard of that, but I have 2 big bags of apples. I don't want to catch this flu going around. I can't afford to miss work, and not be paid.

Oh me neither but it won't hurt to try it. No one wants to catch the flu, I thought this could help some people who like apples.

Wow, it's good to know that apples are great to prevent influenza. I know that apples also contain much vit C which is also good for preventing influenza.
