new gas price pattern

Has anyone else noticed besides myself how the gas has been fluxuating here in the US? For the past few months it seems before any big national event like elections and holidays the gas has gone down tip toeing around $3 mark +/- ; however after the event passes the cost goes up up up! Typically it seemed as though as we approach a holiday that prices jump up and then gradually fall after the holiday has passed. It's like things have been working in reverse or is it just me?

There definitely has been a lot of fluxuation in the price of gasoline here lately and it is crazy. For example on Monday when I went to pick up my friend and his son, the price of gas here was $3.19 a gallon and then when I got back home three hours later, the price of a gallon was $3.45 most places. I was lucky enough to still find a gas station where the price had not gone up. Now it seems like the price is slowly dropping again, but I really don't understand why it jumped like that in the first place.

To me it seems like it jumps up around events the last event was on MLK Jr day with the President taking his oath of office. I'm telling you I see no other reason why no storms or pipeline breaks. Perhaps the stock market has been fluxuating and I haven't really noticed.

Prices around here constantly fluctuate. I find before a holiday and long weekend it goes way up. They know people will be traveling and using more gas and they raise the price to make more money. So annoying.

That's how it has worked around here. But right before elections gas was almost bout to go below the $3 marks then after elections back up to $3.30 something. It's been weird here as things normally work the way you mentioned but lately it hasn't around here anyway.
