I recently been seeing some videos on youtube where they show how they can prove that the preserved pork that you get from the stores has maggots in them. I don't eat Pork or beef but then i felt so sick of seeing that. I get fresh chicken from stores, it is rare that i buy preserved ones. But hell maggots in?, Do you think that is true? have you tried doing this experiment and see if it is real? one would stop eating meat after seeing that, it is so pathetic.

I never believe anything that I see in youtube and besides, I choose meat that are looking fresh and cooked them well. Everything is possible in youtube, so it's really good to research first or ask someone before we believe what we see.

Do not believe everything that you saw and read from the net. I haven't tried it- but I am sure it's kind of trick. I buy meat from reputable supermarket and in any circumstances I have to buy from the public market, I wash the meat thoroughly and cooked it for a longer time.

I do not really believe, but i can't say i don't. Because once i tried this trick of burning a type of chips we get here as shown on youtube just to see if there really any plastic in it. And enough was the shock to believe when i saw the chips actually has plastic bits in them. so you see we can't even ignore all the things.

It is an 'urban legend': http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/porkworm.asp Those videos are all hoaxes. Some I have seen are done by using a chemical (reputedly Coca Cola) which changes the protein in the meat and acts fast so that it changes into strings which appear to writhe like maggots; others I have seen use trick photography and real maggots. It is gross to watch these videos but they are all jokes or hoaxes and any meat which you buy at a reputable store is quite safe to eat.

The bottom photo shown on the Snopes site is also clearly tongue-in-cheek (using some of those cola candies made to look like worms!). There are different stories about how the urban legend arose - some of them themselves urban legends. One has to ask what kind of people they are who actually believe everything they read or see on the Internet!

I read that the worms have been bred out of the pork but there was a time if pork was not cooked appropriately that you could get worms from it.

Well this is one of those moments when I wish that I didn't know this. Ignorance is a bliss they say. But anyway maggots or not I still am going to eat meat as I need them protein. I guess we just need to cook our food really well to kill any maggots. Proper food preparation is the key for hygiene.

I din't want to scare or make anyone feel sick for food. Well i think if you buy fresh cut meat and cook them they are as tasty and healthy. And i would always eat my chicken freshly cut and not packed.

I could believe maggots if the pork was left out to spoil in the presence of flies. My mother's family preserved pork and it was done in a smokehouse. It's also preserved with salt. I have never heard if maggots in good food. I have heard of maggots in some kind if cheese that's a delicacy but I wouldn't eat it if my life depended on it.

Yes i know that cheese, i think that cheese is called hell's cheese or something. Yuck same here, even if it was the last thing on earth i would die seeing it, but wouldn't eat them.

Eow that's kind of disgusting to me and scared. Make me feel puke after reading this and I am a pork and beef lover and now I am thinking if I'm going to cook my beef I am thawing right now

That can be possible if the meat was not handled well. But otherwise, it is safe to eat the meat.
