procession or fun run?

One high school had its "Fun Run" early this morning which turned out to be something similar to a religious procession wherein the participants, high school students from 1st year to 4th year high school, were just lazily walking from their point of departure to arrival.
Why? It was supposed to be "Fun Run" so were the students not running or maybe jogging? Do you think the students did not understand the activity? Was it due to lack of motivation? Was it because it was done so early, at dawn, that the students did not have the energy to run since they did not have their breakfast yet?
People around were wondering. What was that?

Hi cutie
Ohh poor kids. may be they were feeling lazy as it was early morning and didn't have time to have proper breakfast. Why didn't you ask any of them? I mean atleast we will feel and understand their problem. If i will find any children like that i will ask them and try to start the conversation.
