She is really mean to her subordinates...

A friend(also an office mate) told me about this incident a while ago... Her team leader told her that with the amount she is getting as her salary, she should be able to give quite an impressive output... But she fails to do this because there were a lot of things she needs to do but it was quite offensive that her team lead seemed she was implying that she does not deserve the salary she gets.
I mean this was really uncalled for, because she is really hardworking and is working long hours. I told her to ask what output her team lead wants but then she does not have the right to tell her this as this was really mean of her to make her feel so useless and undeserving.

That is one of the reasons I quit my former job, because the female manager was so mean,no offense but I think that usually the female manager will worse than the male manager.

I had my share of mean leaders and managers and I can understand how your friend must have felt about this comment which was really uncalled for. Unfortunately there are many people out there who simply do not care that some comments may be disastrous for the recipient's attitude and self esteem. I believe that an employee deep down feels if he is performing to his best abilities or not, so even by such a comment he should basically try to not care or worry too much.

Well you say she is really hardworking, works for long hours, than why she says she does not deserve the salary she gets?
I am confused..
Thank you so much for this discussion.

Don't worry, this is how your friend will mature and focus on work. It may sound mean but a team leader will do whatever it takes to accomplish their quotas. In my experience, I just pass these words on my other ear. There are times when we are able to get the output and other times we don't. But as long as we are working on working hours and making a good quality of our work then there's nothing she should be bother about.

i know.. i told her to stay focused and to show her lead that she is an asset to the company and for her work outputs are more than enough reason that they are paying her a certain amount. i know she feels sad and depressed because of the words said to her... i know she will get over this but sometimes i see her way too stressed already. =(
