Sometimes I think I'd like to try screenwriting. I've done well writing a cookbook, memoir, song, poetry and creative nonfiction, and I love movies. I've acted onstage and took a Set Development Workshop, so I know a little of what's involved. My motivation is not to suddenly be part of the glamour scene and meet movie stars. far from it. The last thing I want is paparazzi making my life miserable. And it's said that screenwriters are the lowest on the totem pole on the set. So many rewrites, so little actual money. At least, that's my understanding. Of course, some screenwriters end up acting in their movie, like Nia Vardalos, who wrote "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and "My Life in Ruins." Tyler Perry went to great lengths to raise money and produce his own plays and movies, in which he has also acted. He's a major pack leader in that respect, and I admire him as such. He's worked very hard on each piece to make it the best it can possibly be, and that's my ethic, as well. I hope I can bring myself to write a screenplay this year. Just to write one screenplay would be awesome, but I wouldn't rule out more, if it feels right.

I think you are experienced enough and know the writing game enough to know when it feels right for you. Just the thought of getting my name up in lights would make me so proud and my mother too. But I wouldn't want the fame of being pursued. I am a very private person and wouldn't want any unwanted publicity. Maybe to do screenwriting under an assumed name could be a way of getting round that, possibly?

Hello wolfie, old pal. Thanks for the encouragement for my screenwriting dreams. I agree. The paparazzi bit, especially at the rate they're going these days, doesn't really thrill me. But I still want to use my real name for my screenwriting career. Somehow, there's gotta be a way to do that and have a life.
