Creative Things to do on a Rainy Day

When the weather outside is rainy, it doesn't mean you have to feel bummed and do things with less spirit. If you're a die hard gardener, you might see a raindy or overcast day as perfect for transplanting those seedlings you just started or plants you recently bought. Just throw on a hooded zippered windbreaker and your crocs and get out there. Or you can putter with pots and soil in the shelter of your greenhouse. If you're a writer, just turn on your favorite music app or playlist and weave some words into your favorite genre or one you haven't tried yet. Musicians can find the rain inspiring. "Listen to the Rhythm of the Falling Rain" is a classic hit inspired by a rainy day. A blues singer/songwriter/keyboardist friend, Melissa Sigler, was out tending her horses one day, and a storm brought "You know the Spirit moves like thunder..." to her mind. It became the opening to her smash hit "Jesus Said." So head out to the porch and look, listen, smell, taste and touch the rain. Jam on your instrument while thinking of all the associations you have with rain. You just might get your own smash hit out of it. Let the rain inspire your creative spirit. Nurture the works that result, and rainy days might become your favorite days.

use to love rainy days, but it was destroyed for me because i was sexually assault by an authority figure on a rainy day. rainy days used to be a time for me to do my art. now, i still do my art on rainy days. the only difference is that now, it's to keep the bad thoughts away from that terrible day. sorry for being such a downer.

Hey MoonGypsy, nice to meet you. I'm sorry to hear that your happiness was stolen, and in such a terrible way. It's good that you still do you art. I would be more worried if you were not able to express yourself creatively. I have some similar experiences in my background, and I hope that your art continues to be a creative healing comfort on rainy days for you.

I love rainy days. I used to love to walk in the rain, but I'm too much of a wimp now (it gets cold here when it rains!) Instead, I go out to the patio and sit where it's dry and watch it. Rain settles my mind and soothes my soul and I miss it when we don't get it very often.

Hey, peavey, how goes it? I like walking in the rain, too. A couple years ago, I had a screened porch. Whenever it rained, I would drop whatever I was doing and dash home to join my fur kids on the back porch and just relax with them and enjoy that rainy day for all it was worth. Making that choice contributed greatly to my creativity.
