Freddie's is a locally-owned franchise restaurant in Austin, TX. The one I've been to has outside dining, which is also where they have their dog friendly patio. There they have shade trees beside a creek, string lights, play areas for kids, antique gumball machines dispensing dog treats, a live entertainment ampitheater and attentive waitstaff. Their menu is casual American cuisine: burgers, fries, salad, soup, cake, cookies, iced tea and sodas. But because they're Texas proud, the burgers are huge! You really get your money's worth at Freddie's. Not only can you bring your dog, you usually have enough leftover for a doggy bag or two to take home.

Sounds like a wonderful place for all the family including the dog! You usually find when establishments are locally owned they are more successful, inviting and a great place to go and eat and spend time. Shame there isn't more places like this.

I actually took my 1 month old kitten to Freddie's twice. The servers oohed and aahed over how adorable he was and remembered him the second time. We bought the dog at the next table a couple treats from the gumball machine.

I lived in west Texas for a short while many years ago. And then later I lived in the San Antonio area. West Texas was horrible with nothing good to say about the weather. SA area was just tolerable. One thing I remember well about both areas was hamburgers. I loved the Whataburger. Is Freddie's burger as good as the Whataburger?

Freddie's burgers are better than Whataburger by far.
