So I just watched Jaws for the second time in my life. First time I watched it when I was very little and it's pretty unusual that of all the scenes in the movie, the one that really struck me and stayed with me didn't have to do anything with the shark. The shark was cool and all but it's the scene when they show each other scars that really influenced me as a kid. So whenever somebody showed me a scar, I always remembered Jaws and I wanted to get a scar of my own :D I have one now but that's a different story... Anyway, I watched Jaws today and I liked everything about it. The strong characters really carry the plot. What makes the movie scary is the absence of the monster for the most part. When I saw the outline of the shark circling the boat and bumping into it, it's outline was more menacing than any CGI monster that I've seen in movies recently. When you watch CGI, no matter how good it looks, you can easily tell it's not even there. Here you can clearly see that something huge is really moving under the boat. Actually the scariest scene for me was one in which we didn't even see it at all. We could only tell by the two floating yellow barrels closing towards the boat that shark is charging at it and of course by the awesome unnerving music theme by John Williams. The film does culminate with the huge animatronic puppet that looks laughably fake today but scared the world in the past. I felt like the movie aged very well until this scene. How do you like Jaws? Did it scare you in the past? Have you seen it recently? I've heard many people were afraid to go swimming because of Jaws.

Ahhh, Jaws..what a wonderful movie it was. I've watched it quite a few times over the years and still never got bored with it. There were soooo many scary parts to me but yes, the music was something you'll always remember. I don't even have a favorite part because I loved the whole movie. That's when movies were pretty cool and so much fun to watch, and yes, it did scare the heck out of everyone! What can I say...fun times!

I only saw the second one, jaws 2 but it was still good. i love the CGI effects now though, some of them look very real. But the effects before and props were also good too, the background music of JAws was really good too- since it really gave us suspense.

Please watch the first one. It's a masterpiece compared to Jaws 2. The thing about Jaws is that it's very character driven as opposed to being just a monster movie.

Jaws was a good movie. It's a shame that they made so many sequels and that each was dumber than the one before. Makes me think a bit about the Rocky movies. In the Rocky series you start out with a punch drunk club fighter who becomes more intelligent with each sequel, like getting hit in the head increases your IQ.

Yeah, this is one of the many series where I pretend the sequels don't exist. I disagree about Rocky tho. Don't remember in which sequel it was but when he was all famous and rich, he had to do a commercial and he couldn't remember and put together 2 lines. He was always just a simple guy and that didn't change throughout the series. He gave a great speech to his son in "Rocky Balboa" but I don't think it was out of character.

First time saw that movie was pretty small and had nightmares about it. I have seen all the movies, enjoyed them all but I do have a fear of open water. I grew up boating on the MO river, now how to swim and have been in the ocean but there is just something about open water without seeing land that puts a splash of cold water on me.

I remember Jaws from time to time when I'm swimming in the sea. Especially when I drift into a bit deeper waters...

I loved this movie. Even though i am not a huge fan of thriller and suspense, i watched it because of the many good reviews at that time. I watched the first and second movie it, and it made me scared of sharks indeed.

Oh yes, I love it. What makes melove it more is because of the great music theme. There are many scary part in it. But those are fun to watch and pump your adrenaline. Maybe the scene will look fake now since technology in movies really are advancing. But in the past it looks real and fun to watch.
