I enjoyed watching movie which makes controversial statement like Apollo 18 did. I borrowed a tape from the store and I read what was written at the back which said: "The reason why men never went back to the moon." As I watched the movie progressed, I felt the need to do some researching to check the authenticity of the facts I believed it presented. Indeed there was Apollo 18 but it never got to the moon because of budget problems. The characters were all fiction though there were really astronauts but they were not the ones in the movies. Those were only paid actors and actresses. Some footage were real but it was edited just to fit in the capsule that the film maker wanted to project. The lesson of the story is that, viewers should never believe all what they saw. Researching a lot can be of help to get all the necessary facts. Taking the time to do so can lead us to a better understanding of what is really going on in the world we live in.

The movie Apollo 18 is a work of fiction and hopefully most people who see the movie recognize this. At one time, there were as many as 3 additional missions scheduled to go to the moon and NASA had the vehicles made to carry out those missions. Because they had the equipment, they used the launch vehicles and capsules in the Skylab program as well as the Apollo-Soyuz mission. I don't worry about people believing that a movie like Apollo 18 is based on truth as I do with other movies. One example is the movie JFK where Oliver Stone gives his explanation for a conspiracy to kill John Kennedy. While that explanation is one of the theories behind the assassination, it is only one theory and has not been proven. Perhaps more dangerous is Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code, both the book and movie. Brown purports the novel to be historically accurate but there are many distortions and incorrect points in the book, enough to make the book a work of fiction and not a work of truth. One other type of movie which has been done so many times people accept it as truth are the movies made about the so called Bermuda Triangle. While a number of planes and boats have disappeared in that area, it is a highly traveled part of the ocean which increases the probability of accidents or disasters happening. However, it's become common to makes movies where strange things happen and to justify them as saying 'we're in the Bermuda Triangle'. There is no proof than anything abnormal is really happening there.
