When I started to join a social enterprise, I didn't really think that I will have a change of heart regarding work and social responsibility. During the interview two years ago, I was so amazed how an enterprise could be so involved in helping the community in so many ways. Our company caters to employing women who were victims of human trafficking and abuse. Since then, I consider myself not only an employee with a title very common to other companies, but at the same time a social worker. I have accepted that the job I am into cannot be more fulfilling as being able to share in the lives of these women who had abased experiences in the past and lead them towards recovery. Our company's main tagline is Ghandi's words, "be the change you want to see in the world".
Friends, how do you simply view yourself as a socially responsible person? Share them here and let's inspire each other!

We are a manufacturing company. We produce personal care products and we sell them online, retail stores, corporate accounts and export. Our staff, who were the victims, work as production workers. They are first trained of basic life skills (we have volunteer teachers), these skills are usually lacking in them hence the tendency to be a victim. After being rescued from perpetrators, they are brought to a shelter for rehabilitation with social workers while legal cases are filed. When these women are ready to again face another phase of independence or when they are ready to move on, they are referred to social enterprises as their stepping stone. In our case, we keep them for 6 months and train them as much as we could while we also encourage or even help them go back to school or look for better job opportunities (we'd love to keep them but our company is still small scaled to keep them as regular employees).
Thanks so much for your interest! :)
