Why always me?

Hi all :) Things like these often bug me. So what exactly happens? Each weekend i try my best to go home and be with family. I succeed. Then comes a message in my phone from my teammates that say 'Nitin can you cover morning shift on monday?' then i am like how? My bus reaches office place way too late. But they don't understand. The thing is the person who's supposed to come in the morning shift asks me to cover instead of him. It's not fair if i am a junior then what? I don't like this. It happens everytime. I respect them but that doesn't mean i can be used, isn't it? What's your views on this?

Hello nitinnair, Take it easy, but avoid exploitation. [ See my response typed with 9th response in busy.]

it is because you seem to be in a spot of bother and always targeted for pety things and make sure you change

I know that you are aware that these fellows are exploiting soft corners of a new face. It is a usual practice at almost offices/work places. Here you have to take some tricky steps to avert by telling in good terms some more difficult situations of you to attend that particular session time. Once it is done they may hesitate on the next time.

No it's not like that. Even if i am unable to come late then i can ask someone else to cover for me. But i don't like it when he does that too frequently

No it's not exploitation of a new face. I don't think like that. Maybe i am just being good. But it's ok. No need to worry.

they shoud follow their schedule. If they are given morning shift, then they should keep their schedule. Having someone to take your shift is giving them a trouble. You tell that person that you can't do it. You have to go home and be with your family. If you'll grant their request, I guess they will ask you again and again. It's their advantage and it's your loss.

because you are younger, you are more energetic, you are more creative, you are more artistic, you are more magnificent, you are more hard working and most of all you are the most gullible for accepting it. First you should have told him that I can cover for you but I will be late because I will be coming from _____ and it takes time for me to go in the office for a short notice. You could have told me last Friday before I decided to go home. You know the distance between and my home don't you. Yes I will cover for you but I don't know what time will I be arriving in the office. Please tell them that I will be late.

Oh! That was good. And i can't say that here...hours and all. I have 9 hours minimum work. At least the system should show me logged in for 9 hours. After 9, it's all work as per orders. Lol.

Awesome reply Mavic. If i had read this yesterday, i would have send it as message to him. Lol. Just kidding. I can't say him the way you put it here. As i said, it's all against cultures :( anyways i didn't cover for him. So he asked someone else from team.

yes, I always tell this to my boss from my previous job specially if everything is un announced. Telling him we have life after work too, so why do we stay for the meeting when you have us all for 8 hours already. The rest of the hours are for ourselves and our quality time with our family or friends or who ever we choose to spend the rest and prepare to work again for another 8 hours here. See, I was never promoted and was stepped on (in terms of promotion) by a new one. LOL

Hii.. I can understand how important our family is to us but our job is equally important so we have to do it anyhow. But take it positively they trust you might have told you to come. You have to be ready for a sudden change even in our life. Dont get disappointed with such things. Happy Posting!!!

This is very common thing seniors always do this to juniors. Dont take it that seriously it will affect your job. If you cant do that shift tell them the reason but if you accept everytime whatever they say then it would be a problem. Do what your heart says.

For me is follow our heart. What makes a person happy then, go for it. If you do not like it, you can tell the person the truth.

No i can't do that. The culture here does not allow it. :(

Hi, My son also had this experience when he was living separately. On weekend he ued to come to meet us. He was also junior and he has to give respect to them. Now we are together. We have to tolerate some things while doing job. It is the part of your duty. Don't get upset by these things.
• India

Thanks. I felt relieved. Lol. I too tolerate it. But sometimes i do get irritated by that. They expect a lot fro6 me and didn't even give me training.

Actually in a direct approach it is another form of bully but to look on the negative side you are their favorite.

Hello there! If you are new in the job you just cannot do something about but to follow your superior. It is not us, it is the culture that dictates us to follow before you complain. Time will come and there will be juniors who will come and take your place, make sure that you are not going to repeat the cycle.

Hey i don't meant this as a complaint. I just shared what's happening in my life. But you said it rightly, i just have to agree with them. I will try my best not to repeat this to my juniors..lol.
