The Choco Treasure egg

United States

I was reading there was a candy banned from the USA called Kinder Surprise, as it's seen as a choking hazzard. The newly approved version is called the Choco Treasure egg is possibly on sale right now for Easter. I'm curious if anyone outside the US has had a Kinder Surprise and knows of any problems with them? Oh and of course you can't take them into the US from overseas as the fines are pretty steep $2,500 for each egg! http://www.957kjr.com/pages/bobrivers.html?article=11070276

Actually my children have had these before and I can definitely see how they would be considered to be a choking hazard because the little toys in them are made of several small pieces and they have to be put together. However, I don't think that they should be illegal, they should simply have a warning on them that they are a choking hazard. My husband grew up in Germany and these candy eggs with the toy inside were a staple of his childhood. He always talks about them with fondness and I can see why since I did get some for my children several years ago at an international supermarket.

I have never heard of anyone ever choking on the prize inside a Kinder Egg. The prize is inside a pretty large capsule inside the hollow egg. And I've never seen anyone bite into the chocolate egg. Everyone just breaks it in half first.
