In May we will be leaving on our trip around Eastern Europe. Tomorrow I need to pay for the train tickets: Brussels to Prague via Koln and Prague to Krakow. I might even be able to pay for the train tickets Zagreb to Brussels.
Today I booked our first two nights accommodation. I need to get some more accommodation bookings for the Ukraine and Moldova. Then I need to get a clear idea of the rest of our trip. I might buy the latest copy of the Thomas Cook European Timetable. This trip is challenging but enjoyable to plan.
Which travel tickets have you had in the past?
Do you plan your trip in advance or when you get there?

Wow, the time is whizzing by for you, and yet when I look out the window everywhere is covered in snow, I still feel it's Winter, not the beginning of spring! It must be really exciting planning your trips when you are away and getting so much in within your timeframe. Usually we plan what we want to do and where we want to go when we arrive. I know that when I went to Rhodes, I relied on the tour operator to give me suggestions of where to travel and I took advantage of the coach trips they had planned for us.

Hi Wolfie. Yes, the time is flipping by very quickly. This afternoon I showed my kids some You Tube videos on Euro Star journeys and they loved seeing these. Yes, I always see plenty of places in my time frame. It was great that the tour operator had great day trips on offer that you took with happiness. It does indeed still feel like winter. Tomorrow is my mum's 80th birthday and she was born in the spring time.

Your trip to Eastern Europe sounds really interesting. I hope that you and your children will have a great time in Eastern Europe
Sometimes I plan my trip in advance and sometimes I don't plan much. Some years ago I visited Budapest. It was a very impulsive decision. I bought a plane ticket, but aside from that I didn't plan much. When I arrived I walked around and looked for a place to spend the night. I found a small guesthouse that wasn'r mentioned in my travel guide book, it was a very nice place and very cheap.
When my husband and I travelled around in Europe for one month we didn't plan much either. We had bought our interrail passes and we had booked one night at a hotel in Greece, but aside from that we didn't plan the trip in advance.
When we want to Asia we decided to plan things in advance. I found hotels and guesthouses on the internet before we left and I also made an itinerary before we left.

I am glad that you find my trip interesting and wish us well with it. Today I showed my children some You Tube Euro Star train videos. They loved seeing those.
I loved hearing about your trip to Asia that you did earlier this year. I can see you booked accommodation on the Internet before you left. You had planned your itinerary too before your trip so that was fantastic.
Well done for finding a cheap guest house in Budapest not mentioned in any travel guide books. I like an impulsive decision like booking a last minute flight.
I liked hearing about your Inter Rail journey that you did with your husband. You made up your plans as your journey progressed after your time in Greece.

When we went on our trip, we usually ordered the tickets ahead of time on the internet. My husband worked for the CN and even when he retired, he could get a cheaper rate. Now I am talking about accommodations and we stayed at a motel, and we also got the senior's rate as we were past fifty years.

I stayed at a motel in Victoria on Vancouver Island. It is great that you get a lower cost with a senior rate. It was lovely you and your husband had got a cheaper rate due to the fact he worked at CN before he retired. The Internet is so wonderful for traveling I think.

I do plan, go for the cheapest price and the most I can get. If it's not ok I go look for some other place to stay/options. Before I leave I do search by the internet where is what possible so I have a kind of idea about prices, possibilities, etc.
I don't make plans for what to do if I am at the destiny, that will depend on how I feel, whom I pop in to, etc.

I'll be in Europe in May too! I have family and friends there though so I don't need accommodation. When I travel from Vienna to Brno in the Czech Republic and whilst I'm there I use the student Agency bus service because they are so much cheaper than trains. I'm not sure on your circumstances but for me it's suitable. I also love the free beverage they provide too it's very nice
