PHP or ASP.Net: Which Platform Should You Choose?

There is always a debate prevailing somewhere on the net over PHP and ASP.Net. The users of either of these platforms will vouch for it to the extent that they will come up with murderous charges on the other with regards to its performance, and scalability.
Are you having trouble picking out which platform to choose from between PHP and ASP.net. Check out some of the things to look at when choosing.

I think the answer to the question is up to the programmer himself.
If the programmer can afford paying the lisence, learning ASP.net, maybe he likes Microsoft and think to support it, maybe he better learn ASP.net...
I personally prefer php because I learned it and I need to pay nothing to start using it and running it on my computer using XAMPP and a simple text editor like notepad ++...
I think that the free technology that is available for everyone to use and learn is a great idea.
Why paying for something if one can get it free ? Many people help developing php for that reason because they like it's being free and available to everyone. That's only my humble opinion.
