Weird thing about Stephen King.....

I enjoy Stephen's work incredibly. (Yes, I feel so close to him I can call him by his first name) I've read many of his books, saw the TV movies, and read his book on writing. He is great! I felt badly about his accident and gave the scowl face to every van I saw for months. He worked hard to get where he is today. I was so impressed when I learned he had written The Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption I could cry. Great movies!! So anyway, I do have a beef with the man. Many of his movies (The Thing, Salem's Lot, etc.) build beautifully to this hellacious crescendo and then leave me disappointed and a little angry. Wasn't The Thing where they were terrorized by some monster in the drain or some such thing? (It's been a while since I read it) and the monster ends up being this clown faced thing. What a bunch of idiocy. And Salem's Lot seemed to go off into no where land and had a weird ending. Several others were this way. Now, Christine, Cujo, Pets Cemetery I (two was stupid too) and his earlier works were really good. He has a gift of descriptive prose that, as a writer, makes me jealous.
Have you read many of his works? Do this feel this way too?

Wasn't the clown face monster "IT"? I'm not a big horror fan,but do remember seeing a little of that movie and Misery. I read Salem's Lot, but don't believe I ever saw the movie.

@Rosekitty That movie and John Wayne Gasey (Last name?) definitely had an affect on my clown likeability meter.

I believe the Thing was a movie with Kurt Russel where they were in the Artica or somewhere cold and it had that spider like thing getting inside of people and they trie dto figure out who was infected with it, it's been some years since I've seen it but

I have read some of his novels and some of his short stories. My favourite novel is The Green Mile. I also like the movie a lot. I have read Carrie and the first part of It. I have seen the movie version of The Shining, but I haven't read the book. I like his old short stories. I have read some of the new short stories as well, but I didn't like them very much.

I respect your views but to be very honest, Stephen King novels freaked me out. I started several but hardly finished any. The Stand was very well written but gave me creeps. I guess horror books and movies are not my cup of tea.

I am currently reading The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. I have just about all of his books. So I qualify as a "Constant Reader."
