Do you find it hard to save money?

I find it very hard to save money, as when things come up unexpectedly, then I end up spending money, when i needed to save it for later. I hate when that happens, but when emergencies happen, then I have to spend it, and hope that nothing else happens so I can start saving again. I avoid going anywhere where it involves spending money, as I know if I go, I will i invariably spend and I certainly don't want to. i am an impulse buyer, but that is one thing that i am trying to overcome, as that has got me in a lot of trouble before. I don't like to stay home, as I would rather go out, but staying home, helps me stay away from the stores and spending money for things I don't need. i think we all do that from time to time and it is hard to overcome, but God willing, I will be able to do it. Everyone take care, and have a great day.

I am a stay at home mom, and I am ever so thankful that Hubby has a decent job. That being said, we are by no means "rich" - and I try to save as much as possible whenever we can. Just when you think you're ahead, "something" comes up and you're having to spend on an extra expense that was not anticipated. Believe me, I love to shop, but I've had to change the way I spend - especially since I am not really bringing in income - and now we save up for the children and their futures. It's not always easy to save, but it's easier for me to save knowing I need to save for someone else

It sure isn;t easy to save. I was doing pretty well, until one of my tenants hot water heater went out, and then i had to spend over $300 to fix it. I just didn't have it, but it had to be fixed, as it was an emergency. Those are the times that I hate becasue i don't want to spend but have to. Now, to try to save up again, and hope that not another emergecny comes up. Thank you for responding, and have a great day.

@DanieGirl80587 It is hard for young kids to save as they seem to want things they don't need. My oldest granson can't save a thing, whereas anotheer of my grandsons, who is younger, does a great job of saving money. My son taught him right, that is for sure. Thank you for your response, and take care.

I always think about my son when it comes to saving. I just want him to be happy and comfortable.

I have the opposite problem.
I find it easy to save money, and hard to spend money.
I have been wearing the same few clothes for work for the past two years.
I just cannot bear to throw them out since they are still good.
I hate to go shopping, especially to shop for shoes, bags and clothes.

I love to go shopping, maybe only to well. I try to avoid spending to much though, as I just don't have it, and I will only buy what I need. With the economy being what it is, it is very hard to save money. I do have some money saved up in paypal though, even though it isn't all that much. It all does add u in the end, and that is the main thing.

It is very hard to save. I keep praying that it will get easier. Hubby is in college right now and I start during the spring semester. After we both finish with our degrees I hope that we will be able to actually start a real savings. Right now we do save up our money when we can but its like you said, an emergency comes along and there goes the money.

@rosekiss Sometimes it is a bit of a release to go and spend some money. When I do that I try to stick to a limit. Maybe $5 in the Dollar Tree or heading to the local thrift store to see what deals I can find. Once in a while is not going to break you but just remember to only take what you are prepared to spend.

@Shellyann36 I need to learn that. The thing of it is, I use my debit card to pay for thijngs, so I guess I will have to tell myself, that I just can't spend what I don't have. I am trying to better though, and I know I will do okay eventually.

I am finding it harder being on my own as i have a tendnecy to want to spend, but I keep telling mysefl, that I can't do that, as i just don't have it. Now, I realize that I do need to stop being impulsive and just not spend when I don't need to. I am getting better at that now, as i know I have to. Thank you for responding and have a great day.

I am glad to know that I am not the only one struggling and ending up spending money we saved for other things. I had to spend some once, as I had to replace a hot water heater in one of my renteals. I didn't want to do it, but it had to be done, as there was no hot water otherwise. It is times like that, I don't enjoy spending at all., and on the other hand, spending for things I want that won't wreck my budget is another thing altogether.

So do I, and it can be daunting at times. I have to end up using it for things that I had no intention of using if for, as emergencies do come up, and I have had to do that already, and I hope I don't ever again at least for awhile, anyway.

Hey, I like that idea. When I walk, on good days, I walk in a neighborhood, and there are no stores, so I can't spend money either. I do love to spend money, but now that this is a new year, I have resolvedd to only spend what I have, and only for things I need. I have decided to build up my paypal for awile and see how far I can build it up before I need it.

No matter how little, saving is a must for everyone. The thumb rule is if you earn 100 you must think it is 90 and save the 10 It works.

I have been struggling lately to pay my bills so saving has been hard too. I think I am doing pretty good, and then an emergency happens, and boom, have to spend money that I didn't have or was planning on saving for when I need it. i guess you could say, the emergency is when I needed it, so now, i will have to try and save again. I think i can, I think I can. LOL. Thank you for responding, and have a great day.

@rosekiss You should forget what you have saved. What if it was not there. How would you handle your needs. It works, It truly does.

Yes, I also find it is so hard to save money. I often meet unexpected expense each month, so I am difficult to leave my money in my bank account. I think, it is the hard problem in my life....

I have had that too. I had to put a new water heater in one side of the duplex I rent out, and I didn't want to, as i just didn't have the money for it, but I had to do it anyway, as the tenants needed hot water to take showers and such.

I have no problem in saving money. I am a very conservative person (more a penny pincher). Both my ex hubby and my present one say I can squeak when I walk (this is a joke). I guess from my up bringing, I make sure to always have extra money for emergencies. Like they used to say in the old days, 'for a rainy day'.
I guess it also helps, that I absolutely hate to shop.

I am sturglling some, but I find that if I don't go out and spend money needlessley, then I do much better. I have been doing that lately, so I have enough to pay my bills, and have money left at the end of the month. I am glad that you are doing goodi saving,, so you should be just fine. Thank you for your response and take care.

I have always been an impulsive shopper, and it has got me in a lot of trouble over the years. I have changed my way of thinking lately though, as I realize that I shouldn't be doing that, as should only buy what I need and not splurge. Even now, when I try to save, something will come up that I need the money for, and I end up using it, but it can't be help at times. Thank you for responding, and have a great day.

That would be easy to do, but once you live on your own, it becomes much harder. It seems like things will come up that you might not have money for, but you have to take care of it anyway, as I just did this weeek, as i had to buy a hot water hearer, and i didn't want to spend money on it, but my tenants need water. Thank you so much for responding, and have a great day.

You are right that we should try to save money as much as we can. My kdis are grown and have kids of their own, so I am basically just saving for me, so I can make it each month, which has been a struggle, as I haven't always had it to pay my bills. Thank you for respoonding, and have a great day.

Yes I find it very hard to save money, especially now that my room mate just moved out. We will be fine on bills and stuff, just can't save now. And the funny part is I actually try to be frugal with our money and not go spending it on useless stuff or going out as much.
We're just waiting for him to get management. Then we might be able to start saving again.

I am finding it hard to save money in this economy. It seems like i start, and then all of a sudden something happens and poof, the money is gone, that i had no intention of using at that time. It sounds like you are doing okay though when it comes to your bills. i wish I could say the same. i am barely scraping by but with the good Lord;s help, I will do just fine. Thank you for responding, and have a great day.

I know exactly what you mean, as the same thing happens to me, and it really sucks. I just keep trying to save anyway, in hopes that I can finally save up money without having to spend it on something that I had no intention of buying.

I don't get tempted to spend because I just know there is no money to pay for a splurge. But yes, when I get an unexpected surplus I immediately want to go buy something fun or do something enjoyable. But like you said, bam! And here comes an emergency expenditure.

Yea, the emergencies hit like a ton of bricks. I end up spending more than i want to, or thought i would. I don't mind staying home as long as i don't have to spend money. i would rather stay home and make money, which is much better. Thank you for responding and have fun mylotting.

I deal with this problem all the time..something always comes up and when it does, there goes what i have saved for something, BUT it always goes to help one of my children and since i have 5, it tends to be a monthly thing..I wouldn't change it for anything though.

I just had an emergency come up this week, where i had to replace a water heater in a duplex on one side. i sure didn't like the idea of spending money, when I need to save so badly, but it was something that i needed to do, as it affects the livability of the duplex. I just hope that I don't have to spend like that anytime soon. Thank you for responding and have a great day.

In the past my husband and I always had some savings. It wasn't a lot of money, but we were usually able to take money from our savings if we received unexpected bills. At the moment we don't have any savings at all. We just moved, and we have been renovating both houses. We also had unexpected problems with our car. In the past we were able to save up some money every month, and I hope that we will be able to do that again in the future.

Money seems to slip thoughr our hands at times, that is for sure. i think now, that i got a water heater for the rental, i should be okay, unles the one on the other side goes out, and I hope that it doesn't that is for sure. I know what it is to save some, and and then end up having to use it for emergencies. That is the way it goes sometimes, Looks like you have a handle on things and that is a good thing.

There comes a point when you're stretched so thin you really don't have any choice but to figure out a way to increase your income. That's kind of the point we're at right now. I've been working as an independent contractor, but with the way things are going I'm probably going to have to trade that in for 'regular' employment somewhere more local.
It's not necessarily a bad thing. I'm getting kind of fed up with all of the travel I've been doing lately.

Traveling a lot can put a dent in your finances what with gas and such. I do hope you find what you are looking for, something that is closer and that you will continue to have a steady income. i don;t work outside the home as I am retired, and for me, I have to watch what I spend each and every month, so I have money from month to month to pay the bills, and have enough to get the things I need. Thank you for responding, and have a great day.
