Getting the Cheapest Hotel and Airline Prices

When I travel outside of Thailand, I usually book my flights with expedia.com and my hotels with agoda.com . In the past, I have been more satisfied with agoda than with expedia. On my last trip to Hong Kong in April of this year, I booked a package of airline and hotel reservations with expedia. Although the airfares seemed a little high, the package deal for both airline and hotel reservations seemed like a good deal. I did not realize that by doing this I could not get locked into the price which was advertised on the Internet. When my friend made his reservations right after looking at the listed Internet price, he paid about $60-70 less than what I paid when I made my reservations about one hour later. Does anyone have any suggestions about which online site gives the best airline and hotel reservation rates?

I don't book a package. I always look for the cheapest fare (economy seat), and Agoda for my hotel reservation needs. I have learned also how to sleep in hostel (dorm) so no problem to me too. It is more important for me to go out and travel and my budget is limited. good job for you..

@pauliek you know I learned how to live in a dorm.. mixed dorm. so fun.. and I met a lot of backpackers... it is like winning friends and company in the trip. It was so fun, seriously.

I also use Agoda. When my husband and I travelled around in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam in 2012 we booked every hotel through Agoda, and we didn't have any problems at all. I know Expedia, but I have never used that site. I usually buy plane tickets through a Danish website.

@pauliek Yes, we would like to return to Thailand one day. Last time we stayed in Bangkok, and it could be interesting to visit other parts of Thailand.

It is all a matter of demand and supply.
When they have 100 rooms available, and you book, the price will be low. Once the available room drops to 80, the price will be high.
If a few people cancel the booking, and free up a few rooms, you can expect a low price again.
As to your question about travelling in Singapore, I suggest you come here on a free-and-easy trip.
Singapore is much smaller than Bangkok, and the MRT and buses are very frequent.
You just get an Ezlink card, and you can travel everywhere else.
If you really want a nice and relatively cheap hotel, you can book Hotel 81.
Most of them are near to MRT station, and situated in town.
