Proofreading fail

When I publish content on any site, even a simple comment on a forum, I tend to proofread what I've written over and over again until I'm satisfied that it's correct. Even so, mistakes do creep through, like the comment I made on someone's discussion here where I said "I'm a very organised person", omitting the all-important word NOT and leading people to think I'm totally different to the person I really am. Last night I submitted a short post to a site where posts have to be approved before they're published. Sometimes their admin edits them first and in this case he decided to add a bit of information to my post. Imagine my horror when I read the line "A 3-year-old man is arrested"! Fortunately I was still able to go back and fix it. Have you made any silly mistakes because you didn't proofread what you'd written properly?

My brain thinks it has typed question marks and I have not. I am always having to edit for that.

@Gina145 I am always saying this. What is hard is when you are writing an article or book and there is nobody to read what you have written for you. I resort to making a recording and using libre office' s "make PDF as I pick up mistakes on those in a way I don't on a word processor.

@Jackalyn I haven't been ambitious enough to write something as long as a book yet. I hope I'll be able to find someone to proofread if for me when I do.

@Jackalyn It's easy for the brain to see what you meant to type. That's why if something is really important I'll sometimes get somebody else to read it for me.

I do that so often .. I omit the most important word/s.. Who doesn't? You has some additional errors from the admin there,, Here is something I found on this post .. please don't get offended Sometimes their 'admit' edits them first ...

Thanks @sofssu . I'm not offended at all. I'd much rather be told about my mistakes than have errors that I'm unaware of. I'll fix that one right now.

Oh, I so hate when that happens! What's worse is that it seems to happen all the time...no matter how much I proofread it! I always seem to miss something! lol

@sacmom I hate it too. But what made this particular mistake so bad was that the post was published in my name, but the error wasn't mine.

I have done that before, and it is really embarrasing after I had submitted it to see the mistakes I had made. It is a wonder anyone could read it, as the words I was trying to type, all came out wrong, and that is becasue at the beginning of the comment, Ihad my fingers on the wrong keys. I really should have dited it and fixed it, but I just left it. I haven't seen any others like that though, as I usually correct them as I am typing them.

I have a degree in typo master. So try not to and type mistakes all the time. That not can really get you confused even when you are the writer or not the writer. I didn't do it someone else did it to me. :-)
