Have you ever been mistaken for someone else?

It seems like every month, I get a phone call, looking for a certain person, and everrytime they call, I tell them I am not her. They more than likely don't believe me, and I don't know what I can do to prove it. I have had the same cell phone number for 9 years, and I have told them that too. I did ask them to take my number off their list, and they promised they would, but apparently they haven't. Everytime they call, I put their number on my block list, but like some people do, they keep changing their number, so most of the numbers I have blocked are from the same ones wanting her. Just a little while ago, they called again, and said they were starting legal action against her, and I told them again I am not her. I didn't get to say much, as they hung up on me. I hope they finllay get the message that I am not her. Only time will tell.

When someone calls me asking for a certain person, I will then tell them I am not that person. They will say thank you, and hang up, but then in a month or two they call back again. It is just so annoying, as I keep telling them over and over. I finally get rough with them, and I tell them to take my number off their list. Most do, but there are some that haven't, and it is frustrating too. Someday, they will catch on, I hope.

Isn't that the worst, how annoying, they are looking for someone to collect on a debt and your not the person they are looking for and they don't even believe you.

@howard96h Yea, me too, as after nine years, I have had enough. I didn't think anything of it at first, but now, it has simply become harrassement.

That is what I amthinking too, that she owes them money, and they aren't going to give up finding her and trying to get it. I don't think they are going to find her either. I am very careful, as I have told them time and again, that I am not her, and I will keep telling them that, until they believe me. Thank you for your response, and happy mylotting.

Sounds like a collection agency. Tell them, "You are to immediately cease and desist all phone contact with me. I am not the individual you are looking for."
My understanding is that as soon as you use that phrasing, they have to stop calling you.

Thank you for the info, as I know they will more than likely call me again, in a month or two. I have lost count as to how many calls I have received from them. I think she owes the state of Oregon money, so she gives my number out as a contact number, and skips out. It appeasr that way anyway, as I get call after call from them. Now they are starting legal proceedings on her, but until they can find her, I will continue to get them, but I will heed your adviice for the next time. Thank you for your response, and happy mylotting.

It just seemed like they never get the message when I tell them I am not her. I finally blocked the number, so if they try to call me again, they won't get through, unless they change their number, then I will end up blocking that one too.

Wow that sounds like a huge muddle. Nope not that way.. When I was in college most people though I was another girl who was my senior. I never really saw any similarities except that we were the same color, height and weight perhaps. It drove me crazy to be called by her name all the time. Finally when I met her.. she said 'so you are that girl '.. it made me even more mad then.

I can understand a case of mistaken identity, but, I have never seen this gal, nor do I know where she is at.all I know is that she used my cell phone number as a contact number. Believe it or not, this has been going on for nine years of them looking for her. Talk about persistence. Sounds like yours was a case of mistaken identity as well. Thanks for your response, and happy mylotting.

is there any possibility someone used your number phone for a fake information that she had to filled in doing something? like a form or something
If they start a legal action against you, you can fight them back cause you are in the right side

I am not sure what happened, but in 2006. the phone calls started. I didn't think much about it then, as I thought it was an honest mistake, but now that it has been nine years, it has become harrrassment pure and simple. I am ready for them if and when they call again though. Thank you for responding, and happy mylotting.

I have never had that happen as of yet. A lot of mistaken identity happens, because one person may look like another. I have heeard that happening before. That is totally understandable when two people look almost alike. Thank you for your response, and happy mylottting.
