Do you prepare lunchbox to work?

It's early morning here, and I am preparing a simple lunchbox for my husband, so he can bring it to work. We used to prepare our lunch when we both worked in the office, as it's less expensive, save hassles and time to think what to eat and go out and eat. Since we both started to work from home, we didn't do that anymore, as we can just cook near lunch time. He just returned to work, and he told me he needed to drive out for lunch yesterday. So I think it's better for me to get up early and prepare a simple lunch box for him. I am glad he is a simple man, so I will just cook the rice and fry an egg for him. He will be enough just for these. I am also planning to cut some vegetables from my garden later, and fry the vegetables for him too. Well, these will be our lunch too. So I don't need to spend time preparing lunch for my children and myself later. Do you prepare lunchbox to work? What do you usually bring to office? Or do you prefer to eat outside?

I do prepare lunchbox for work every day. Sometimes I have to carry it with me all day if I don't go straight to the office. So I usually prepare dry food like a sandwich or rice with chicken since I can't risk having oil or water spilled in my handbag. Fruits are also a good idea, like bananas or grapes. Your husband is very lucky to have someone preparing the lunchbox every day! I save a lot of money this way and I eat healthy homemade food for lunch. My only issue is that we don't have a refrigerator at the office and I can only take food that doesn't need to be refridgerated.

Yes, I think it's really saving money and healthy. When both my husband and I worked, he prepared the lunch sometimes. I am happy to prepare lunch for him now. There's no fridge and microwave in his company, so we have to put the lunch in a stainless steel container to keep warm. But, I am sure it will not be as nice during lunch time. I am glad my husband is not fussy at all. In my previous company, there was a fridge and microwave, so it's easier to me to keep food in the fridge and reheat during lunch time. I think it's good for the company to invest in these, so the staff will enjoy their homemade food.

@kaka135 yes it's very important to provide some benefits for the people that work in the company. Alternatively, they could provide a meal at work. My office is small and I am the only woman there. I have asked for a refridgerator but some of the partners don't want to spend money on it. We just have two coffee machines at the moment!

@besweet Yes, providing meal at work is good! I visited to a company in Taiwan years ago, and the staff there are given meal coupon for their lunch. (There is a canteen in the company too) I think it's pretty good. It seems like more employees think coffee is more important than lunch!

Yup it saves money if we bring lunchboxes to work. Sometimes I bring 2 sandwiches if I wasn't able to cook food. Come to think of it, I should buy some bread so I can bring sandwiches w/ me on Mon.

We used to bring sandwiches to work last time, but later I found sandwiches were not enough for me (not my husband complained), so we started to cook rice for lunch.

@kaka135 It's the easiest to prepare when I don't have the time so that's what I take for lunch sometimes.

Very sweet of you to prepare lunch for your husband and he is very simple! When I went to work, my mom prepared my meal because if I had the chance to, I would just buy at the cafeteria at work, hehe.

Sometimes it's good to stay at home, as mom will always prepare everything for you. I haven't been preparing lunch for my husband since I am pregnant, because I didn't get to wake up early and have the energy to prepare meals. I was so sorry for my husband, as he has to eat out always. Wait until I am feeling better, perhaps I will start preparing lunch for him again. Perhaps by that time, I will be busy taking care of the newborn baby.

I sometimes would put in the fridge , a viand i could eat for lunch at the office next day . Then , in the morning i cook rice via rice cooker and microwave to reheat the viand of last night and bring them for my lunch . If there's none i buy at the canteen . But i always bring rice because i always cook rice using the rice cooker in the morning .

I also cook rice for my husband for his lunch, as it's easier to prepare and bring to office too. Good that you have canteen in your office.

I let my son bring a lunchbox with him to school. Not that I don't trust the school's canteen but I don't want to take chances. There have been lots of cases of food poisoning in our country recently so I would rather cook lunch for him than have the "what-if thoughts" run through my mind while he is away from me. Most of the time I prepare dry food like fried chicken or pork chop, sometimes cold cuts like ham. It has to be dry so that it won't leave a mess inside his bag.

I think if my children are going to school, I'd like to prepare lunchbox for them too. No matter how, I think it's still healthier to have home cooked food. It's really better to be safe, especially for young children.

I used to do while I worked. Hubby has stopped carrying a lunch box because they serve him a good lunch at the office. I have to do this for my children. I get up really early and prepare a solid lunch for both. Thy get back home late so I also pack a snack for them.

It's so nice of your hubby's company that provides him good lunch, it saves you some time for preparing lunch box for him as well. Now I also started to prepare some snacks for my children when they go to the park in the evening, so we can sleep earlier at night. We can just take shower, then get ready for bed time.
