Another of Wagner’s comedy gem Judge Dredd episodes. Dickens is a dedicated follower of fashion, who for some reason is so powerful an assassin that even Judge Dredd is scared. This description is so startling and out of character that it immediately grabs the attention. Dredd has shown no such fear in dealing with all kinds of killers and monsters.
Dickens proves to be a master of disguise and much of the story questions how he will dress to kill Dredd.
The answer is that Dickens will dress as a beautiful woman and he seems to succeed in his mission until the closing few panels when Dredd arrests a novelist modelled on Truman Capote (called Truman Kaput) for writing him into such a preposterous trashy novel. A brilliantly executed idea.
