I hate pushy salesmen

Early this evening the phone rang.
"Can I speak to Gina."
"Speaking."
"How are your?"
Despite the fact that I hadn't a clue who I was speaking to, I reflexively answered "Fine thanks, and you?"
"I'm great. Thanks for asking."
He then told me that he had something to offer that would really excite me, and proceeded with a long presentation about a tablet that he was offering me along with an internet contract. All through a local cell phone service provider.
When I told him I wasn't interested, he wouldn't take no for an answer.
Three times I said no, and three times he continued to ramble on, insisting that I would love the package that he was selling.
In the end I had no choice but to put the phone down.
What would you have done in this situation?

The 'call center ', variety of salesmen, is the most obtrusive and pesky one.

@Gina145 yes Gina, one doesn't like intruded upon, both in person, or on the phone. The intrusion on your privacy, surely turns you off.

@gregario888 It's not only the intrusion on my privacy. I don't like to give personal information to strangers over the phone. Not all of them are trustworthy.

@gregario888 I agree. And even if he was offering something I actually wanted, I would never have bought it over the phone.

bless yer heart, i've had a few 'f those 's well. i jest tell 'em, whilst they're still ramblin' that i aint interested, don't call 'gain. 'n when they take a breath to protest, i tell 'em i know where they're located 'n will come down 'n rearrange their noses. 'course, then i tell 'em to have a great day 'n hang up.

@crazyhorseladycx I don't think it would have much mattered what I told him because he wasn't listening. He just went on and on and on...

@crazyhorseladycx I tried, but he wouldn't let me. He just went on telling me why I was wrong and he was right.

Well I would also put the phone down. He's hard selling and will never take no for an answer so better to put the phone down and hope they don't call back again.

When they ask how you are, say "Fine, thank you so much for calling to inquire" and hang up. I usually stop them as soon as I can, because they work on commission. If you can let them know early on that you're simply too poor to buy whatever they are selling, and tell them you don't want to waste their time, they sometimes give up.

@Rollo1 The problem was, when he asked how I was I didn't realise that he was a salesman. By the time I realised, he was talking so much I had a hard time getting him to listen to me. Well actually that's not true. He heard me, but he certainly didn't listen. Telling him I couldn't afford what he was offering would have been a good idea. I wish I'd thought of that at the time.

Sounds like time to hang up after the first time you have told him. Why waste time? I know. I usually stay on and mess with them awhile. When you are on SSI you can't buy anything anyway.
