The Cat Won't be Coming Back

Ever since I have lived here there has been a Maine Coon cat that has frequented the area. It has tolerated my presence and was often seen around the barn, hunting whatever was in there. It did a great job frightening away the pigeons as well. I saw it just last week, looking large as life and completely fine with me driving right past it (slowly). Of course, I often don't see it for long periods of time, but it always would be back around sooner or later. Three days ago I went into the barn and there was an unpleasant, but weak smell that reminded me of bad eggs. I was hoping the birds hadn't left a rotten one behind after they left for the winter. Yesterday I went in and the smell was stronger, and definitely a dead animal. I shifted things around but couldn't determine the location. Today I was determined to find it, and it was really strong today, which allowed me ease to track it down. After getting a flashlight I found the source. The Maine Coon cat, looking like it had curled up to take a nap, in eternal rest (although it was relocated out of the barn). I guess it's safe to say that it won't be coming back around.
