Battery Issues With Laptop

I have a Compaq laptop and it is about 5-6 years old. I've never had any issues with it at all until recently. I am getting an error because of my battery. Right off the top of my head, I can't remember the wording of the error. I'm sure it's because of the age of my computer.
It seems to work fine as long as it is plugged in although certain sites are extremely slow. Not sure if that is my computer or the site.
Does anyone know if the battery issue would affect the performance as long as it is plugged in? I will be getting a new battery within the next month or so.

@Analyst001 If she keeps the laptop plugged in, it's exactly as if the battery was fully charged.

If it's plugged in it shouldn't be an issue. Even if it's not, it shouldn't affect internet speed but it might affect your processor speed. If you get the error message it can be a battery life issue so maybe it's time to get a new one.

@cahaya1983 I didn't know that. Thanks for the tip. I sure don't want one that over heats.

@simone10 Yeah you usually can find good deals online. Aftermarket batteries are usually cheaper, but you need to find reliable ones because I've heard of people having issues like overcharging and excessive heat with those batteries.

I have no idea if the battery influences performance in a laptop or not. I have a Compaq Presario Notebook that I've had since 2008, believe it or not, and I still use it from time to time even though it has some serious issues, such as weird colors and the screen freezing up and stuff. Probably the only cure for that is to eventually get a new laptop, but for now this will do. :)

@simone10 Yeah, same here. I found that when my laptop is fully charged it functions better, so I guess my issue is battery life as well. I also found that when I use firefox in here I can submit a photo, but I can't do so with IE. BUT...I can't start a new discussion in here with firefox but I can with Internet Explorer.

@Novelangel That is a little strange, isn't it? I haven't used IE in years. Ever since I tried Firefox for the first time, I have stayed with it.

@simone10 I love having a laptop and have for many years. Only had one battery issue. It might be time for a new laptop too.

@celticeagle That is what I am thinking. They just don't make laptops, or any computer for that matter, to last very long.

noperz, aint the battery if'n its doin' such when plugged in. does yer battery jest not charge any longer? i've heard tell that if'n ya keep 'em plugged in whilst the battery is in it can screw up its memory - 's well 's doin' short charges. also heard ya can drain 'em completely 'n then stick 'em in the fridge a few days. let it sit out fer a day to make sure dry 'n then start anew. dunno, aint tried it myself.

I don't think it is a battery issue that could effect the site. Maybe you have a virus or something? Try deleting your cookies and restarting your computer see if that helps any.

I've heard it's never a good idea to leave a charger in after it is fully charged nor to let the battery die completely. Of course I never take good advice and the battery on my Chromebook lasts a couple hours before needing to be charged. Because I do those things I just suggested you don't lol

I don't think having a battery issue has a direct impact on loading of the site. Since its mentioned certain sites, I assume the problem is with those sites only.

You could bring it to Compaq technician so they could thoroughly check it. Try to search other website if it still slow. Try to have a speed tet to check if it is an internet issue. The age of the laptop usually affects the performance of the device. I am now using HP laptop. My Compaq laptop is also faulty.
