In March this year a friend gave me a Maple Tree Bonsai for my birthday. I watered and feed that plant, shaped it and did everything except sing to it, (then it might have died). Three months later in our winter all the leaves fell off, I was devastated. In my part of the world there are not many trees which lose their leaves completely over winter. Then I realized a Maple Tree probably does drop its leaves. Over the past few months I have watched my little Bonsai, I put it in the wintry sunshine and brought it inside to protect it from stormy weather. We are now in our second week of Spring and I have noticed tiny buds forming on the tree, it is so exciting to see green leaves starting to take shape and to know that I didn't kill my little Bonsai it is all part of the natural process of nature.

I have a dwarf maple in my garden, it is the first to show tiny buds in Spring. Now it's almost Autumn, all the leaves are turning red.

While our summer is almost over--I know because our high temperatures are now only 89!! One of the reasons I love living in South Florida is that we have green trees, bushes, hedges, plants all year round!.

Oh dear, summer over here means brown grass, hedges and plants. Not a lot of green to be seen. I guess that must be why I fell in love with the UK it was so green

Maple trees not only lose their leaves, they have the best and most amazing array of colors in the fall. Be careful with it.

@Rollo1 I have noticed different coloured leaves are appearing. I have been looking at you tube and other places for info on my little bonsai, I shall try very hard to be careful and help it grow.

Good that you realised. Yes, down in this part of the world we need to remember some plants are different.

It gives immense feeling when we sow seeds and grow plants and they grow up so well in front of our eyes is it?

@amnabas Yes it is very exciting. I also found two Roma tomatoes growing as well today.
