This month marks the 20th year of eBay since it was first founded in 1995.
I still remember how excited I was the first time I learned such site existed back then. The idea of listing an item for sale with the possibility of being seen by people all over the internet world just blew me away. I soon signed up as a member and was amazed by the vast number of items listed - not to mention some of them were rather unusual. For instance, four golf balls were auctioned in 2008 and eventually sold for thousands of dollars. What's so special about the golf balls? They were surgically removed from a python that had inadvertently swallowed them. Oh, the python recovered and was released, so it's all good.
I imagine millions of online shoppers have enjoyed finding cool stuff and great deals from eBay. I'm not much of a shopper on or offline, so I've used eBay as a seller more than as a buyer. I only sell easy, simple, normal, everyday and low value items so naturally I don't make too much profit after all the shipping and fees charged. But I enjoy seeing the bidding and where in the world my item would end up.
