Facebook may soon have a sympathy button. It does sound like it will be some kind of sympathy button rather than a dislike button . Facebook users have been asking for a dislike button for years and finally it looks like it is going to be implemented. They have thought about a dislike button in the past but thought it might cause to many problems. They made use the sympathy button to express emojis. It looks like people want to have the option to sympathize with someone other than the like button. Adding this new emojis gives users new ways to react with others. They say it will have the potential to drive more traffic to the site because of this new button.

@Marcyaz I really don't know what to think about it to be honest. To be or not to be that is the question?

I very rarely use FB, so it won't affect me.

I won't really affect me either as I very seldom go in there.

@Raelove I sure agree with that. The fun stuff is great and seeing the presence of far away peeps is reassuring. But personal stuff - yikes!

@fufurinha - So if you are asked for a choice, you could skip FB for food?

@fufurinha - Is it so? Is it as necessary as your food?

@gregario888 Who knows if it will be accepted or not until they actually put the button in place and see how much it is used.

@Marcyaz It is pretty vacillating on their part, they won't like a 'dislike', button, but wouldn't mind us having one to 'sympathize', with some one! Beats sense.

I wonder if users will actually spend more time on the site because of this new option. I agree that something is needed because I feel awkward pressing the like button to show I will pray for someone whose hurting or sick.

I hope it is used as people were asking for a dislike button and it is not exactly that but anything new is different.

@Marcyaz I don't like the idea of a dislike button. If you don't like it, just move on past.

People will surely misuse the dislike button on public figures.. But with their friends and such I don't think they would use that button at all. I personally wouldn't have the nerve to do it.

They say they will not name the button dislike, it will be more like a sympathy button.

It seems a good idea to include such an option on FB. I've also felt that if someone is sharing a sad incident or news on FB, it is not proper to 'like' the post.

Why not a tile that includes all options? Including dislike.

I think it is a great idea to have a sympathy button. Many times I have wanted to show sympathy instead of hitting the "like" button.

Right I think if it is used in the proper way it will be a great asset.

I actually recommended a "middle finger" button instead. I mean, why simply just "dislike" something when you can REALLY, REALLY dislike it?

I think Dislike buttons are trouble. A sympathy button probably won't be. Though I think it's become an assumption that the Like button means you read a post and found it significant in some way.

I like this, I want to show sympathy sometimes, but feel the like button conveys, well liking of bad situations. And I agree with @susan2015 that dislike button would be a major troll.

I have been wanting a dislike button on Facebook for years, there are some posts that I just did not like at all. I do think this sympathy button is a good idea though, even though I don't use facebook too often anymore.

It's a better idea than the "dislike" button but still... it's just an easy out for people who can't or wont' take time to interact with words, but rather scroll down the page hitting like or whatever. It still separates. It's like having a robot do your socializing for you.

I think no matter what Facebook does it has exposed our true colors as a society and nothing can fix that.

I really am not crazy for that site no matter how many buttons they have. I have found so many spying companies on my computer due to facebook tracking..will try to make a discussion about it.

A sympathy button is a good idea. I do not appreciate to like bad news, but I would like to sympathize.
