Sometimes it just takes a little bit of creativity to avoid huge problems! Glad to know that you didn't have to deal with the leaking problem.

The Engineer who executed the job was humble enough to listen to me although I was not an architect.

@cahaya1983 He should. Just a 2 inchs is good enough but mostly they keep the slab at zero level.

Most architects have fixed designs. I designed my house as per our needs.

Your title says you are no architect but what you did was solve a very important problem that you neighbors have not done. I call that somebody that knows what to do.

Thanks a lot. I told my engineer to see that there are slopes everywhere.

you mentioned a mere 2-inch slope to the slab prevents water collection and leaks. do you mean the roof of a house? are roofs usually flat there?

I am talkking of the slab and not the roof. The slab that holds the terrace. Some have a first floor and there again they do not have a roof but a slab. I have a terrace that stands on a slab which has a slope of 2" My first floor has a terrace has no roof but the rooms have a roof above.
