Both are made up of either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, minerals that scatter the rays of the sun which prevents our skin from sunburn. These minerals are termed as “Sunblock” as they tend to block the rays of sun. Sunscreen, on either side changes the wavelength of the Ultra Violet or UV rays so that they do not leave any harsh impact on your skin. Sunscreens are known to be chemically reactive and sometimes lead to skin rashes and irritation at higher concentration. The clear example to this is concerns that are often raised related to chemical sunscreen products and photosensitivity. Three most common UV absorbers are Oxybenzone, octyl methoxycinnamate and octyl salicylate.
Then what to use?
You must be thinking that if both sunscreens and sun blocks (those Sunblock products referred by industry) bear potential skin risk then why can’t we just use those Mineral Sunblock directly on our skin. Let me make you clear, they aren’t pleasing to be used that way. Minerals such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are large sized particles which when applied directly leaves a white caked film on skin (you can image that look by recalling noses of the cricketers).
Conclusion: No product is perfect; they all will provide you protection from sun up to some extent, even those claiming to be high in SPF. But you can always take help of natural methods. Here I am sharing a recipe of homemade natural sunscreen which is as effective as those available in market.
Ingredients:
· ½ cup coconut oil ( contains natural SPF 4)
· ½ cup beeswax
· 1 tbsp Zinc Oxide (Don’t worry; it won’t be absorbed by your skin. It has natural SPF 20. Do not inhale this powder.)
· 1 tbsp essential oils ( Optional, that suits your skin type)
Preparation Method
· Mix all the ingredients except Zinc oxide in a glass jar and close it with a lid.
· Put a saucepan filled with water over medium heat.
· Put the glass jar on the pan. With increase in temperature of water, the ingredients inside the jar will start melting.
· Shake the jar occasionally and once the ingredients are completely melted, remove the jar from the pan and add Zinc Oxide (only 1 tbsp).
· Stir to make the powder mix well with the other ingredients.
· Once the mixture gets cooled down, store it in whatever bottle or jar you prefer. Store this natural sunscreen in cool and dry place. Also use it before 6 months.
With this you are done. Go out and enjoy sunny days without worries.

Hi, even the sunblock you are using is sunscreen only. They just change the name to make it sound different from other players in the market. Sunblock are usually unprocessed chemicals used to make sunscreen so without a doubt sunscreen is the best option.
As per sunburns are concerned, you should apply a layer of sunscreen 20 minutes before leaving home so that it get absorbed and act as a shield to your skin. Also it is very necessary to keep your body hydrated as dehydrated skin is also prone to sunburn.
Hope this helps!
XOXO

I just don't sunbathe as I know how easily I burn unless I present myself to the Sun as a moving target
