Gotham TV Series: Does It Improve?

I started watching Gotham last night for the first time. I started from the pilot and am now on the third episode of season three. The show centers around two detectives investigating the death of Batman's parents, and therefore is set during the early years of the young Bruce Wayne.
I loved the pilot, but found the second episode rather silly. The criminals using pen needles to capture children was rather silly and the way it was executed was laughable at times, or maybe it was meant to be funny. I am hoping things get more serious and the series focuses on the main story arc of Bruce Wayne and finding his parent's killers.
Does it improve?

We started watching the first season but never even finished it. I don't know why. It just didn't capture us. Maybe it's the combination of violence and silly comic book stuff. Maybe the heroes and villains are just too different in this version. If I don't find myself looking forward to the next episode, I figure I don't really like a show.

I actually like the fact that the heroes and villains are not exactly like the comic books or the movies. I like how you see their progression and backstories, because this is sort-of like a prequel to the comics.

@purplealabaster I think I would like it more if they focused on the main story arc. I love the Penguin character, he is a great actor.

Isn't it supposed to be a children's story and maybe that is why it is silly?

No, this is certainly not a show that is meant for children, because there is too much graphic violence. It is like a loosely based prequel to the comic books, but it is far more violent than the comics were.

Hubby likes this one, I don't always, because I was way more interested in Master Bruce, than I was in the silly people in town. It is nice to see, well basically, baby supervillans. So many of the big bad guys later you will see in their youth

@gudheart there are a few I like, like Alfred too, but mainly because they are closer to Bruce's. I am way more interested in him, and alfred, and the mansion, and all of that than stupid politics and such in town.

I watched a few episodes, but for whatever reason stopped. Not because it wasn't interesting, but life got busy. I would love to start watching it again. I wish I could tell how it goes, if it gets better or not, but the truth is I don't really know.

I guess that it depends upon what you like and do not like. It is loosely based on the comic books, so at times it is rather silly, but it is supposed to be that way. It is also very graphically violent at times, so you might not like that aspect of it, either.
I do like the show. I enjoy seeing the progression of the characters and trying to figure out which one becomes which villain, because some of them are immediately obvious and some are not. Also, the villains are more complex as you see some of their backstories, and how they go from good to bad. The heroes are interesting as well. I really like Harvey (Jim Gordon's partner), and I also like Jim Gordon. In this he certainly is not the cowardly commissioner that he is portrayed as in the movies. In fact, he is a total bad-butt in this.

I've seen the first four episodes, so far, of all DC characters that were adopted into TV, Gotham is one of the most interesting... well now that Smallville is gone. I need to catch up with this TV series though

i'm following Daredevil right now though.
but you have reached season 3, so maybe you should just finish it
