I would like to learn how to do graphics and I have no clue how to go about it. I have Paint on my computer but do not like it. Is there anyone here that could direct me to a simple software program not too difficult for beginners? I would appreciate the info and thanking you in advance. I have Windows 7 and do not want to change this.

You can download an easy graphic program that is free to download and to use, the name is PhotoFiltre. It's a good program with many interesting features. I use it all the time with my Windows 7.

Is it only for manipulating photos? I need something to learn how to draw with software. I would like to make simple drawings and logos to start.

@marlina If you would love doing logos, there are different Logo Developing Applications But they basically come with predefined objects and you can use your creativity playing with them - these objects are called elements. You do not get a Freehand thing with them - where you can draw anything that you want, instead use their elements to create what you want.

There are three Applications - 1. GIMP - this is freeware and distributed under Free License - no costs - downsides - not much preferred by professional designers 2. Photoshop - The first choice of Professional Designers - Heavy on RAM and Expensive. The designer suite can also include Illustrator - from the same company - and again expensive - but great for Vector Designs 3. Corel Draw - Not that popular but still a good application - normally used by DTP operators - where they create simple graphics. - Expensive again. And now that you are planning to start off - Start with GIMP - They have good documentation and come for both Windows and LINUX - so you can run it on Windows 7. Also, it is not that memory centric so on older systems or even with lesser RAM, it works good. And also, the Application is much simple to use as compared to Photoshop or Illustrator - which have more than a million options on their windows - so quite likely you would lose the focus if you start with any of these.

@marlina Those are some of the programs I would recommend. But if you don't want to spend money, download Paint.net. It is open source software and free. It was originally being developed to replace Paint in Windows but that didn't happen and it's constantly being updated. No charge for using it. It is a lot like Photoshop and you can draw and edit. Gimp is also free.

Paint would certainly be unsatisfactory for anything of that nature. Assuming that you are interested in free software then I would suggest GIMP. This was originally for Linux machines, which is where I first encountered it, but it is also available for Windows. It is quite a sophisticated piece of software for a free program and very user friendly. I used it to make personal avatars for one site that I was on and it produces some decent results.

@marlina - Ms Marlina - There are 3 FREE pieces of software that I favor for doing things with images. These are all available for downloading from "SourceForge dot net." They are: GimPhoto Paint.net (That is really a dot net as part of its name) PhotoScape Another good one to have is "FotoSletcher" if you want to make simulated oil paintings and stuff like that. Check out some of the images on my postings. Many are the result of passing through one or more of the programs mentioned, above. Good luck (from someone who, otherwise, cannot draw a straight line...)

I tried Anna's program, but it was Greek to me. I have an older version of photoshop on my computer, but have yet to learn how to use it. Since you have more free time than I do, you may learn Gimp or any of the other ones mentioned here. If you figure it all out, write something about it and let me know. I'm also looking for something to do graphics with, or even ways to manipulate my own photos into other works of art maybe.
