Why can't people say it to me?

I am tired of the number of people who wont come straight to me but go through others. They will literally say tell her this. I have a few who I assume are shy and gone through friends, and now his friend is going through my cousin.
Is it because they don't want to confront me? Make me feel bad? hurt my feelings?
I am just curious of why people can't come say to me rather than going through everyone else even though it will get back to me.

Maybe they're just not ready to face your reaction? Or worried about the consequences. There could be many reasons I guess, but whatever it is those people lack confidence, that's for sure.

I thought of that and assume that is it. I have asked a few people and they all said they never found me approachable but realized after I was. It's just annoying that this person goes to his friend, who then went to my best friend, and now my cousin. Yet, he wont say anything to me personally. Yet, claims he doesn't care about me personally (if I don't care about someone and their reaction I will say anything to them in that case not pick and choose what I say).
