These feelings buried inside A child of only ten Fueled by anger and pain This child wants to scream and cry But it is held in again To suffer without gain The parasite that lives within Eats away at his very skin The daily grind of punishment Both physical and mental The boy does no know where to begin He only knows the confusion he lives in Being strong is a requirement No time for sentimental He grows into a young adult Only to find nothing has changed He fights his way while he is home He is starting to feel utter revolt Beginning to feel somewhat caged He’s only fine when he’s alone The hatred and the sadness Confuse him only more Stepfather is a monster He beats him with great success Can’t wait for him to be no more His thoughts now become more sinister The boy is now a full grown man And still carries around the scars His therapy never helped at all He’s fought and fought all he can He might as well live on Mars Because no one ever listened at all When his hated stepfather died He was lifted into happiness He was glad that he was gone He was free of pain, never to cry This was truly blissfulness But the memories have never gone Copyright © 2015 Steven Cetta All Rights Reserved Check for all my Poems here: #inertia4poetry Image Credit: CoolText.com Tags: #inertia4 #Battered #Memories #inertia4poetry

Is this a real story or your imagination , my friend ? It's beautiful and i think this happens to most children who have stepmothers or stepfathers . Lucky are those who are with either stepparents but still well loved by them .

@inertia4 If that happens here the neighbor reports to DSWD and the children will be taken from the parents , so the abuse to them can be stopped outright .

@SIMPLYD I agree. But, this story was from many years ago, back in the 1970's.

This actually a real story. But not my story. But it is a universal problem though. Children should not be subject to hateful people like this. And whoever is the one that remarries after a divorce, mother or father, the stepparent could be abusive. And the saddest part is the mother or father does nothing to stop it.

This is really good and you made it so believable.(You had already told me you have no step parents).

I don't have any step parents. This is a poem. It was fueled by something real, but not me. So, just take it for what it is, a poem.

@mommaj Thank you. I try to make them seem real. You don't know how many people would respond to my stuff asking me if I am okay or if I need help. LOL.

No, it's not about me. I saw something on TV that prompted this poem. I hate people who abuse children. And especially stepparents. it seems that some stepfathers are cruel individuals. Those people need to be taught a lesson. Why destroy the innocence of a child.

This is indeed a sad boy. I think in this world there is nothing more cruel than child abuse. Really conveyed the truth here inertia. Really nothing worse than the sorrow of the neglected and abused child crying out for help. And the long term affects never end. Sadly.

It is a sad topic but one that needs major attention in this world. some stepparents are not very good people. And divorce alone causes it's own problems.
