So Have We Forgiven Michael Vick?

He's playing quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers tonight, because Big Ben is injured. I'm ready to move on and let him play in peace. Do you think I'm being too easy on him? What he did to those dogs was truly horrible. Does he deserve another chance?

It's funny, I just mentioned him in another discussion reply. I find it outrageous that more people are upset and unwilling to forgive him than they are people who have MURDERED other people. (I pointed out that Craig MacTavish, an NHL player, coach, and now executive, was a Stanley Cup winner a year after being imprisoned for killing someone in a drunk-driving accident, and no one complained about his return to professional sports.) What Vick did was horrible, and it was wrong. However, he has served his time in prison and he has repented.

People seem willing to accept violence on people more than on animals. I feel like the prison sentences for animal abuse are tougher than vehicular homicide. The justification is that the first is intentional and the second isn't.

@NeldaHoxie I agree, they got more upset about the killing of that lion than they did at planned parentHood selling baby parts. Now they're ok with continuing to fund it with government funding. What's the point in doing time if people can't forgive you afterword?

He went to prison, he did his time. It's not as if he's still doing it. I forgive him.

As usual, I've been living with my head in a paper bag. Someone hurt some dogs, went to jail, and is now playing football. I don't think of football as a nonviolent sport, but players make lots of money, so I'd have to think that one through. What did he do to the dogs?

Hi Sheilamarie78! In a nutshell. He was involved with making dogs fight. When they couldn't fight, he shot them. I think the only reason it made the headlines here is that he was a big deal NFL quarterback.

Being in South Africa, I am not aware of who he is, but, I see your words, "what he did to those dogs was truly horrible", and my heart sinks, my tummy turns. As far as I am concerned, anyone who can harm a defenseless animal, deserves nothing good in life, he should be locked away, not living it up. The human race has it all wrong.
