We all know ego is the worst enemy for any one. At the same time, we can say, self respect is a good attitude. In fact most of the people , including me, can not define ego and self respect, appropriately . There is a lot of difference between ego and self respect. One can harm the man kind and other one is a good attitude. Can i get good narration of the both qualities here?

I'd say whenever people say what a big or what a small ego they have they are referring to how the person's individuality maintains or doesn't maintain their relationships. When people are saying self-respect I believe they are referring to not a person's individuality but their outlook on what they do and what they say they do or gonna do. In short, ego is the upholding of one's individuality in a relationship. Self- respect is the outlook of one's personal individuality on their actions. Ego is connected to one's self and others. Self-respect is only connected to personal individuality. ^_^

@Ranuka,I would like to say if you think you are more important, wiser, stronger than others,it is your ego.Ego makes you overestimate yourself.Self respect,on the other hand,is the 'sensible' aspect of ego.A self respectful person neither underestimates nor overestimates themselves.

It is a very subtle difference. Hard to explain.
