Escalators? No thank you

I loved my foreign tours every single one of them but I would have enjoyed them more if there were no escalators. And as for lifts or elevators I have the same phobia. I would only go in when there were others there but never alone. I would rather climb up those stairs - does not matter how many than be found in those cubicles all alone. And then what about those countless nobs in there. If you press something wrong you have had it.
The only thing I liked were those moving walkways that one found at airports and railway stations.
Are you with me on this?

Very much so. I don't like escalators because I feel as if I have to jump off them or they will tear my pants off!
Elevators are creepy! I was stuck in one once and it was traumatizing. I had to take an industrial elevator once, you know for loading and unloading big things? Those are creepy so so very creepy!
GIve me the stairs any ol' day of the week.

It is the first step and the last one that petrifies me having heard stories about how one can trip although I have gone through that umpteen number of times.

@allknowing I use escalators almost every day and I never had an accident.

@allknowing I did not tell that there are no accidents, I said "I never had an accident". One of my aunt had an accident on an escalator and it happened because she stepped without grabbing the handle.

I prefer escalators and lifts because they are so much easier and quicker than walking up or down stairs. Of course I can appreciate that they are not likely to be so popular with people who have phobias about them.
The problem that I have with the automated walkways at the airports is that the majority seem to be out of order as a rule.

I'd much rather have an escalator than a lift, where you are concealed inside. At least if the escalator stops, after the jolt, you can continue walking up or down. If a lift breaks down or stops, you're enclosed inside until someone comes to the rescue. Many people rely on escalators as they are unable to climb stairs. Most places have the options of stairs as well as the lift or escalator.

We do have escalators here in Malls particularly but I prefer a lift but not when I am alone. My choice is the stairs if there are not many steps to climb.

I'm okay with elevators but don't like the waiting part or having to squeeze myself when they're too crowded. Not a fan of escalators though, especially after watching a few fatal accidents happening because of them.

Same here. Elevators are ok as long as there are people in there with me. There was an accident here a few years ago when a lady walked into a vacuum. The outer door had opened but the lift had not arrived.

Yuppers...those escalators are intimidating to me. I stand and wait for the precise moment I think I can step onto the first stair and then, when I am on I feel like I am doing a balancing act and trip up getting off. I guess I got no SWAG.
