Finding your quiet place

Do you have a quiet place to retreat when life gets too hectic? Everyone should have a quiet place whether it is physical or in your mind. Finding your quiet place is essential to maintaining your sanity in the hectic world we live in. There is noise everywhere; a blaring TV, people talking, children screaming, and not to mention the clatter on the outside. Give yourself time out and find your quiet place. Sometimes I use the bathroom, It is small, quiet, warm and cosy and the ideal place for a little down time. That old elm tree in the backyard is a great escape where all you will hear is the chirping of the birds. Then there is that quiet place in your mind, where no matter what is going on around you, you are able to shut it out and go to that happy place just for a little while. Whatever your quiet place or wherever it is you deserve a break. Do you have a quiet place? Image is mine

When the children were small I used to lock myself in the bathroom (if husband were home) and soak in a hot bath for half an hour. Now that I'm retired my quiet place is in my armchair once my husband has gone to bed.Though I still enjoy a long soak in the bath.

yepperz, i've a wee lil sanctuary jest outside my back door. e'en if'n the weather suggests bein' out in such's a bad idea, i've a wall 'f windows so i can still see it all. i used the bathroom fer my 'down time' 's well - seems the only place i'd not be constantly hammered fer one's attention.

@crazyhorseladycx Mine doesn't work all the time either. I like wandering around the backyard, just me and the skies above and the landscape all around

That is one reason we shifted here to a semi rural town where there is peace and quiet. We bought a piece of land and then we constructed a house designed by me. We have a huge garden that attracts birds of all species.

I used to work next to our public library and on my lunch break I would often go there to de-stress

It's not so bad with just the two of us. Sometimes I will go to bed early with a book. Or go to the library.

It does get easier to find that quiet place with just two of you. Those are both good choices I have used in the past

Our place is very quiet, we are retired and our sons have moved out on their own. So for us there is no need to go and look for a quiet place.

It does become quieter when the home becomes an empty nest, but I find you also need a quiet place when you are outside the home - even if it is just a place in your mind
