@DanieGirl80587, you may try sending a message to those who are always suggesting to stop it or limit it. It would be best if they ask for your approval first before suggesting their topics.
In my case, I used to check those suggested topics but few days ago, I felt tired looking at them. 
I hope admin can provide us an option to approve or decline suggestions.

I try not to send off suggestions anymore - I know it can annoy some folks. I figure if folks want to come visit, they will. Sometimes I will feel excited that I got so many notifications - at least in the way of numbers - and then I'll realize most of them are suggestions - ha ha.

@xstitcher You know where you respond to a discussion (not comment, but respond specifically to that post) - you will see an eye icon to "suggest". When you press on it, a window will pop up with the list of your followers to whom you can suggest that particular post to. Then they will be alerted of your suggestions. Some people like getting them, some people get annoyed!

i have 244 suggestions as of now and I have not opened a single one of them. I have my own method to participate here. I do not need suggestions.

if you unfollow them you will no longer receive suggestions, but you can still read, respond and comment on their discussions if you come across them while logged into this site.

You are so right. Mine are always on the high side as well and you are left wondering what to do with all of them. I only visit the topics that are interesting to me

If you want to be seen, your posts to be seen by more people, it is good to suggest them.
If you do not like suggestions from others, simply delete them.
It is so easy and not like hard work. Just my thoughts about it.
Yes we need a balance for sure. We all want our discussions to be read and responded to. Hope it sorts itself out soon for you friend.

I am not saying I don't like them at all. I have found some very nice topics from my Suggestions. But when that is my main thing from my notifications, that's a bit much...
