My Uneventful Wednesday

Uneventful Wednesday

First of all on Tuesday evening my laptop was starting to act up so I was not on long. I was gone on a day trip to Spenser and Spirit Lake, Iowa til late afternoon with my daughter in-law on Wednesday. First we went to Spenser and looked in a store where we know the Manager. Set up a dinner date sometime soon with him and his wife. Then we went on into Spirit Lake to look for some new sheets for the bed as the last ones I bought were the microfiber and I do not like laying on them so I am looking for some cotton sheets which I couldn't find in the little town that I live in. Anyway I did fish a set with a top and bottom sheet and 2 pillow cases. My daughter in-law found a few things she was looking for also. We did take time to go to Perkins dinner and have some lunch. We both had turkey on top of mashed potatoes and gravy and some toasted bread on the side which was their Special of the day. I had iced tea and she had a sprite. Our meal was very good and the waitress was terrific. What we saw on the way there and back was the farmers tilling thier fields now. Unfortunately I didn't get any picture of them tilling the fields. If you click on the picture to make it larger you will see a pheasant in the field.

I see him Marcy! Nice photo too! Did you manage to find some cotton sheets you say? If not there are cheaper cotton ones on Amazon that I got about 6 months ago as Walmart does have them here the cotton ones, but too expensive. Glad you had a nice day out though. Sounds nice to go out to eat with the manager too.

Ocean, He was so hidden by the overgrowth it was hard to take a picture of him. Yes I did find a set of cotton sheets, they were on the high side but I can't take much more of those microfiber sheets. It was a nice day out. They will call when we shall meet for dinner they only live about 12 miles from us.

I use microfiber cloths for several purposes and find then extremely good, However, it would seem a very inappropriate material from which to make a sheet.

I hear they are good for automobiles, but I can tell you as sheets they are awful. Wonder why they are so popular now in the stores selling them as sheets.

@Marcyaz They may be popular in the United States, but are unknown here in England.

@Asylum @marcyaz Microfiber sheets are not as comfortable in hot weather as cotton sheets. But they are very nice for winter. They have a silky feel and they don't get cold like cotton sheets. There's no icy shivers and waiting for the bed to warm up while your teeth chatter. But you have to be sure they are of good quality. The low thread count ones wear and tear easily.

I understand you do not like microfiber sheets, I only want cotton sheets in our bed. I can see the pheasant in your photo.

Those microfiber sheets are awful on the bed, glad you were able to see the pheasant in the picture.

@Marcyaz I cannot stand microfiber, I am even a bit allergic to those new fibers, I like cotton or linen.

I enjoyed the picture. I haven't driven out in the farming community around here for years. Sounds like you had a lovely day.

This is nothing but farming around here and they grow corn and soy beans which are the biggest things here.

Might have been uneventful, but it sounds like a nice day out. Rummaging around through some stores and a nice lunch in Perkins. And, from that picture, it looks like beautiful country.

Another cotton sheet user here as well. Nothing like sleeping on cool, crisp cotton sheets.

He looks so small out in the field all alone, thank for the compliment. It was a really good day also.
