I've rejoined LinkedIn

I joined Linkedin many, many years ago. I never really used it for anything, but I'd regularly get those "I'd like to add you to my contacts" emails and I'd dutifully accept.
But somehow I had signed up twice with two different emails. I asked them if I could merge those two accounts, but at that time you could not. Worse, a few years ago LinkedIn had a bad security breach that caused me to be flooded with spam. In disgust, I quit both accounts.
I recently rejoined because I'm sort of looking for a job. That "sort of" needs some explanation.
I'm PMR (Pretty Much Retired). I still have a small technical consulting business, but it only requires a few hours of my time each week and sometimes not even that. Of course it doesn't earn all that much either, but it's enough that we haven't had to touch our retirement funds yet.
So here we are, living pretty well in semi retirement. We don't lack for much and truly cannot complain. I keep running the numbers and even if my business folded up tomorrow, our retirement assets would keep us as we are for at least thirty years.
But, that assumes no drastic changes. Either one of us could need expensive medical care in the future. Stupid Tea Party Republicans might damage Social Security. I'd like to put away a little more money just in case.
OK, but still that "sort of". If I wanted to work hard, I'd work at expanding my current business. I definitely don't want a full time job. I don't want to work summers either unless it is telecommuting and again only a few hours per week. Can I find such a job? Maybe, maybe not..
So I've rejoined LinkedIn. I've already had someone say they have something coming up I might be interested in, so I'm hopeful. And if not.. well, who knows?

I am in a similar situation, but extra money is always nice - it is like a cushion just in case. I could never do a full time job for anyone again, much prefer running my own small business. Often though I think I have all these skills that seem wasted now and that I should go out into the wold of work and use them even on a part time basis but would I have the time?

Yeah, time is the killer. Something would have to be a lot of fun and very interesting to get me for more than a few hours a week.

It's worldwide. I'm surprised you have never heard of it. It is in India.

Doesn't hurt to get yourself back out there. It sounds as if you are in the position to do things how you wish. Maybe you will be able to find more work that fits in around your life now. A little extra pocket change never hurt anyone.

I keep meaning to do that, but never get around to it. It seems people use it for all sorts of things.
